We parked at Portinscale and made it over Cat Bells with a huge sense of achievement standing on the summit. Incredible 360 views and well worth the climb. The path incorporates some areas of rocks which you need to scramble up and over - not for anyone who suffers from vertigo. A knee punishing decent down steep stone steps which are uneven so be sure to wear good boots with a deep tread.

We walked from Keswick, around the lake and crossed the road into the Great Wood. A climb through deciduous woodland and onto open fell meadows. Absolutely stunning views before meeting the road and a short walk to the standing stones.

A great way to pass some time, mind-bending puzzles and illusions. My daughter (a teenager) and I shared many laughs doing the puzzles and really loved the rooms.

I’ve seen a lot of theater over the years in New York and London, and nowhere have I seen a better show than the production of BRIEF ENCOUNTER currently playing. I was happily shocked and will always remember an evening of exquisite acting, superb music, and careful directing. Go!

Lovely spot and amazing buildings, including superb wrought iron gates which are highly decorated.
Didn't do the tour but the whisky, gin and other stuff for sale was very good, and at the back there are Alpacas roaming around.
    Would recommend to anyone.

Fabulous place for a couple of cold local beers, or local gins. Staff friendly and informative. Drank our beers in the beer garden then bought more from the shop to take back with us. Went a couple of times during our stay. Would again when back in Keswick. Shame no brewery yours on at the moment.

Drove up here (bit harrowing of a drive) but totally beautiful overlook. Highly recommend! A bit out of the way.

Wonderful park, which carries out important background work in species protection. It's interesting and fun for all ages. Don't miss the birds of prey displays, which are usually a mixture of beauty and comedy.

On a very wet day, after 40 yrs of visiting Keswick, finally went to the Pencil museum. Was really surprised how much I enjoyed it! Please do the quiz they give you on entry or you will not get the most from your visit. It is a very small exhibition so by taking part it forces you to read everything and learn a lot. I was in there for almost 2 hrs which otherwise could have been an hour at most. You also get a worthwhile prize for finishing. I found the World War 2 secret pencil story fascinating. It is definitely worth a trip if you have a spare couple of hours.

This is a very pretty lake, just the right size to take an hours boat trip around it for a great view. You can stop off if you wish with a day pass, costing £12.50 at the time of writing. It is also a great way for many people who may stay in Keswick to get to the foot of Cat Bells for a great fell walk.

You can get trips either clockwise or anti clockwise plus there is a fast direct route specially for Cat Bells.

If it is a little choppy on the water and you choose to sit outside you will get a bit wet from the spray, but it can add to the fun of the day.

Fabulous museum for all ages and especially welcoming for children and families. We loved the interactive exhibits even as adults, especially having a go on the musical stones and writing with quill pen and ink.

We found a warm welcome in the cafe below and loved that the staff were all so friendly and helpful, offering fantastic work experience to many adults with additional needs. Service was fast and efficient.

Round trip from The Great Wood car park, through the wood and up to Walla Crag, then down to Ashness Bridge back to the car park or the lake shore.

If you go from the car park at the top of Gale Lane this is a great walk of approx 1.5 miles out & back to do with those a little less fit or able or younger children

Well looked after park, with various games to be played. Get a snack and sit on the many benches to take in the ambience.
