What travellers are saying
- Bertie1224Northamptonshire, UK527 contributionsYou would walk right past if you didn’t know. Several flights of stairs down to a series of vaults full with a variety of silverware, much of which I wouldn’t look twice at. You need a particular environment to house most of the items. Large plates, shields, goblets. A sort of Harry Potter vault that you would not know was there. You can purchase smaller items, necklaces and cufflinks and for a special unique purchase there is plenty to chose from. The heavy steel doors open to each vault and the subterranean environment make it a interesting peruse from vault to vault. The staff in each vault are friendly and helpful. Very worth a visit to just look, and definitely if you are after something silver!Written 23 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - juniperjo2018London, UK2 contributionsEnjoyed visiting Alfies Antiques Market, which has a great selection of various antiques from a variety of different periods. Central London location meant may items were at higher prices than I am used to, but I was expecting this and I imagine their overheads must be enormous. I bought a beautiful Danish silver pendant, which I am very pleased with.Written 10 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ann g2 contributionsLoved the market, to see the range of jewelry, upscale porcelein and silver. The prices are not for the faint of heart, but where else can you buy a tiara?
All of the vendors were friendly, even if you were just window shopping, and I had a good time.Written 2 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Its full of impressive art deco lamps, a lot of them imported from Paris! Across from Alfies I slso found some really good vintage furniture shops specialising in mid-century furniture.Written 5 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David2 contributionsI visited them to find out information about a document I had inherited and which other dealers hadn't been able to identify.
They were brilliant, identifying the document and telling me about how it had been put together and how common it was at the time of publication (in the late-1880s).
Wonderful service and a really informative visit.Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great 20th Century pieces in the basement from Designs of Modernity which brought us here via this guys website.. but the other 4 floors are full of amazing furniture from Georgian to 50s and 60sWritten 8 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lee JonesChepstow, UK22 contributionsI spoke to Daniel on the phone, and he directed me to their shop in London, I think it's on Maddox Street in Mayfair, as I did see a few of interest on the website, but killed 2 birds with one stone by visiting the shop whilst going to see a show at the West End. I was a bit blown away by the amount of clocks there in the first place and was shown around the different floors, and was very impressed by the quality of the clocks, and also Daniels knowledge of each one, but some where way out of my price range.
Finally got myself a small bracket clock, and arranged to pick it up on the Monday just before we left. A great antique clock shop right in the middle of London, with very knowledgeable owners, who cant do enough for you really. Would recommend these guys if anyone looking for antique clocks, and I think they have furniture there too.Written 16 December 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - macedonboyGlasgow, UK179,694 contributionsAlso known as Bermondsey Antique Market, this is a regular market of local traders selling a mixture of antiques and collectables. There were a lot of dinner sets, cutlery and jewellery on sale and a few stalls selling clothes and and military memorabilia. I especially like some of the stalls selling coloured glass. Everything that was marked with a price seemed reasonable, but I didn't try to haggle for anything that was unmarked.
Could be a quick or long visit depending on what you're interested in.Written 19 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Minnie FLondon, UK5 contributionsI bought an original 1970s leather coat with brown shearling trim, it fit like a glove and felt so well made, it was in mint condition for its age (50 years old)! All of the vintage is hand picked and in excellent condition, something for everyone, it’s my favourite place to shop.Written 6 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
