Great layout. Challenging but fair golf course in fantastic condition, with stunningly beautiful views. All of the caddies with our group of 12 were excellent. This course is not to be missed on a visit to Scotland.

St. Andrews Links is a place like no other! We were drawn there, of course, by the 600 year history, the Swilcan Bridge, and all the golf legends (including Mary, Queen of Scots) who have played the famous Old Course. The majesty and beauty of the Old Course and the buildings surrounding the 18th was awe-inspiring.

What we didn't expect was a magical golf-land, with 7 courses to accommodate all levels of play. We didn't expect £40 greens fees (for us that was about $44 per person) on the Strathyrum 18 hole course, which was designed for beginners (hubby can play, the rest of us not-so-well) and is utterly beautiful. We surely didn't expect to just book a tee time a week before we arrived and have rental clubs waiting for us (even lefties) at check in. That course was so forgiving, it was a blast to play!

We didn't realize that St. Andrews Links is common land owned by the town of St. Andrews. What that means is that the public can walk down the designated paths around the course, and cross over the 1st/18th fairways on a little road that bisects the property. Dogs, apparently are welcome, too, as folks playing our course brought their well-behaved pets onto the tees and down the fairways! The people who work at the pro-shops, the gift shops, and give the walking tours were so kind, informed, and gracious. What a surprise! The place was built for the commoner and it still has that friendly vibe.

We just happened to be going to St. Andrews for a wedding at the University and never dared to dream that we would be able to play golf at St. Andrews Links! We also booked their 1/18/17 hole walking tour, which we found on their website. The gentleman who guided us shared some excellent insider stories about famous golfers' experiences on those specific holes. We also then had the opportunity to have our photo taken on the Swilcan Bridge! So awesome.

The beauty of this area is unparalleled. The town is absolutely charming, the delicious food and the course view from 18 at Rusacks (the hotel next to the 18th hole) are must-do experiences. Even if you don't golf, go walk the "road hole" path. You can witness some expert amateur golfing by those lucky and talented enough to play the Old Course, while breathing in fresh North Sea air. An unexpected sidebar trip of a lifetime. Wow.

A bucket item ticked off here and was not disappointed. Was surprised that you could walk the course freely as long as it didn't interfere with the golf then all was good. Has the obliquetry photo taken on the bridge. It was a calm day the day we were there and it just seemed so serene. A trip to the gift shop for a few souvenirs also a requirement.

Just returned from 5 days golf tuition with hubby (been playing in excess of 40yrs) and myself (been playing since Oct 20).
Self-catering accommodation was included, flat was centrally located for easy walk to shops/pubs and easy access to golf courses including famous Old Course and essential photo opportunity on Swilcan bridge.
George was so welcoming and put us at our ease immediately. Every morning was one to one golf tuition including trackman assessments, then on to outdoor practice area and the driving range at the golf academy.
Played the Strathtyrum Course with our pro (George) on one of the afternoons while the other 4 afternoons were spent on the Balgove Course (included in the package) honing the skills and drills from the morning sessions in the studio.
I have returned home more knowledgeable about the game of golf, the exercise’s you can do to improve your flexibility and essentially more confident in my ability. I will of course pick up some bad habits as I go along so I will return to St Andrews Golf Academy for refreshers as this is an excellent facility and not only for golfers but great for visitors/holiday makers/ students for a fun Trackman activity on a wet afternoon in Scotland. To sum up, it’s 5 stars from me. Oh, and last day training with George was Fri 16th Sept and finished 2nd in the ladies' medals final on Sun 18th Sept, really chuffed.

Everything about the Castle golf course was fantastic, course has unbelievable views, tough in parts but very enjoyable.
Restaurant and bar overlooking the 9th and 18th is great just to go for food.

Amazing curation of courses, outstanding and friendly service! We played the New Course, Old Course, Kingsbarns (highly recommend), Carnoustie and Dumbarnie in 5 straight days. Breakfast and Lunch were provided each day, and for Dinner we took an shuttle into town to walk around St. Andrew’s and eat at a local pub - easy to get a taxi back to the hotel. The team members for The Experience St. Andrews were first class. Every driver we had was friendly and seemed to really enjoy talking about the history of the country, the game and golf in general. Worth every penny.

The new course is a great opener to St. Andrews Links. While the Old gets all the glory (earned in my opinion), the new course has a lot of similarities and challenges and provides a great round of golf.

John, our caddie for the round, was a wonderful addition to our round and I'd suggest for the first time to take a caddie with you as while you could get around without one, the history and learning experience with one is not to be cast aside.

The course when we played was in good shape, the greens rolling true and the wind was up. While it's not a long course, the wind really lengthened the back nine all which seemed straight into the fan. Still, with John guiding us, we had a great round and enjoyed this links as much as others on our trip.

Fantastic course, Fantastic Condition and fantastic staff.
I played the Dukes this Friday and was blown away. What a layout and greens probably the best I've played in last 10 years.
The experience from meeting Graham and his team in the pro-shop to enjoying a post game drink and food with Sophie and her team in the lounge was first class. Friendly, helpful and very professional.

Great track played in early October would defiantly visit again without a doubt only criticism the hotel starter hut and driving range all split in different areas a little bit confusing but again I cannot wait to visit and play again hopefully next year

The weather was kind to us for October in Scotland. The staff who booked us in were very friendly and welcoming. The starter was equally pleasant. Everything felt relaxed and not ‘stuffy’ like some courses can be.
The course was in very good order. My golf was mediocre at best but that didn’t stop us having a great day.

A wonderful links course set on the famous St Andrews Links Golf Courses. The course runs traditionally out in 9 and back in again, and runs parallel to the Old course and New Course.
A really well kept and maintained course and greens were exceptional. Will be back again in the future.

Fabulous day today with challenging wind conditions to be expected. The caddy was fantastic in every capacity. Right clubs right green reads, great company as well. If your playing this very special place please use the local knowledge and get a caddy as not only do they add to the experience of playing a place where legends have walked but they have so much knowledge on the course to help you round even when your not at your best.
Lucked out with the weather even though it was a bit gusty(20-30 mph) but my caddie showed me the way!!
    Fantastic day.
