We took part in the Halloween Virtual Gin Tasting Saturday 31st October. Adam was our host. He was engaging, funny and had a great knowledge of the subject.

The presentation of the gins was excellent and the tasting did not disappoint. This is an excellent purchase for any gin lover and made for a fun night in.

This is probably the best virtual gin tasting there is. Can’t recommend this enough.

Weather helped but an unbelievable experience at the beach next to the home of golf. Would have been good if more cafes etc but ok if bringing food.

Wonderful to see the cathedral open once again following months of closure due to maintenance work. It really is a special place and should be visited

It's awesome to look at and even more awesome to cross at the end of your round when you were in the queue at 3:00AM. Should be a rule that you cant cross unless you are a citizen of the town or are playing the course. It was amzing to see the number of folks that just trotted over from the street to take the glam picture.

A brilliant place to visit. My family had the best fun together in many years - my grown up daughter especially loved the train, reverting to childhood in a happy instant! Extremely reasonable prices for the different activities and something for everyone to enjoy. My grandson loved it all, his favourite being the pedalo on the beautiful lake. Ken and Bruce, the train drivers, were absolutely great, doing their best to make it fantastic fun for everyone. The grounds are beautiful and the food on offer was delicious. We will make it a regular visit whenever we come to stay with family in St Andrew’s again.

Although there is not a lot left of the castle, there is still enough there to make a visit worthwhile to St Andrews, if combined with the Abbey. Regardless, the castle is in a stunning location.

There is no car park and on street parking was tricky when I visited as it was the first week back for the students after the summer recess.

There is a shop and toilets at the castle entrance.

My Sconnoisseur has awarded the cafe's cheese, spring onion and chive scone a prestigious and elusive 10/10. Only the 4th scone to receive top marks since 1995 in his ceaseless quest to nobly sample scones across Scotland. Thank you to Cambo Gardens for its welcoming staff, tranquil walled garden and scones of the very highest order.

Owen, the car park attended is a wonderful guy. The last few times its been traffic chaos! Selfish parking, causing traffic jam and frayed temperatures!
I felt compelled to write this after being told that on numerous occasions, people have been extremely abusive towards him and one occasion, a van was driven "at him"!
He makes it all go like clock work

We went for the gin tasting while in the St Andrews area. Matthew, our tour guide, was highly educating and kept the tour interesting. Would highly recommend if you have a spare hour. (Especially if you want a few drinks at a low cost)

We had good fun at the clay shooting centre. I was a bit apprehensive going but was very quickly put at ease with the warm welcome from the team. Jim Thomson was an excellent instructor and was very patient at explaining what to do and helped me to actually hit a couple of targets which was a great feeling. I had been worried about the recoil from the gun hurting my shoulder but I was given an extra pad and can honestly say I never felt a thing. So if you were thinking about doing the experience but have similar concerns to me, I would say...go ahead and do it...you will be in the hands of experts and will come away with a sense of achievement (and a photo!)

St. Andrews Links is a place like no other! We were drawn there, of course, by the 600 year history, the Swilcan Bridge, and all the golf legends (including Mary, Queen of Scots) who have played the famous Old Course. The majesty and beauty of the Old Course and the buildings surrounding the 18th was awe-inspiring.

What we didn't expect was a magical golf-land, with 7 courses to accommodate all levels of play. We didn't expect £40 greens fees (for us that was about $44 per person) on the Strathyrum 18 hole course, which was designed for beginners (hubby can play, the rest of us not-so-well) and is utterly beautiful. We surely didn't expect to just book a tee time a week before we arrived and have rental clubs waiting for us (even lefties) at check in. That course was so forgiving, it was a blast to play!

We didn't realize that St. Andrews Links is common land owned by the town of St. Andrews. What that means is that the public can walk down the designated paths around the course, and cross over the 1st/18th fairways on a little road that bisects the property. Dogs, apparently are welcome, too, as folks playing our course brought their well-behaved pets onto the tees and down the fairways! The people who work at the pro-shops, the gift shops, and give the walking tours were so kind, informed, and gracious. What a surprise! The place was built for the commoner and it still has that friendly vibe.

We just happened to be going to St. Andrews for a wedding at the University and never dared to dream that we would be able to play golf at St. Andrews Links! We also booked their 1/18/17 hole walking tour, which we found on their website. The gentleman who guided us shared some excellent insider stories about famous golfers' experiences on those specific holes. We also then had the opportunity to have our photo taken on the Swilcan Bridge! So awesome.

The beauty of this area is unparalleled. The town is absolutely charming, the delicious food and the course view from 18 at Rusacks (the hotel next to the 18th hole) are must-do experiences. Even if you don't golf, go walk the "road hole" path. You can witness some expert amateur golfing by those lucky and talented enough to play the Old Course, while breathing in fresh North Sea air. An unexpected sidebar trip of a lifetime. Wow.
