Very good idea. You buy a book and you just follow the signs and learn about the town in your own pace. I like it a lot

The city square is a nice setting, dominated by the palais facade and framed by a half circle of stone buildings. There was a Christmas tree made up of tens of trees at the centre of the square.

The facade of this église is covered in rows of decorative (not gargoyles...can't remember the correct term...but those). Worth passing by!

I escaped the September heat wave by visiting the Duke’s palace in Nantes. It’s easy to take the tram from the train station to the palace. The museum features plenty of maritime historical items. There were models, carved ship figureheads, and ornate Chinese decor.

A really lovely city although sad to see homeless people on the main road from the station to the centre of Dijon. However, once in the centre it is a very charming place with great historical places to visit and some nice restaurants around the city.

On a rainy day in Dijon nothing better than to visit this very cute museum. A great collection of things from the past. The displays are artfully displayed. The only problem is nothing is written in English.

The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke several languages.

The stairs are wide and easy to climb up compared to other towers in Europe.

The view from the top was good for taking photo's of the beautiful tiles rooves within the town that are difficult to take from street level. We could see for miles around the centre.

If you go when it is snowing be careful of the slippery ice on the top of the tower when walking to get your photos.

While in Dijon for several days we stopped in to tour on our own. Needless to say it was amazing taking in all the details of the architecture…inside and out. After taking in the beauty and learning more about the history, we also decided to return on Sunday for mass. A touching and heartwarming experience even though we don’t speak French. If in Dijon, we suggest you take the time to visit.

Like a picture post card, beautiful views of endless vineyards, stopped by for picnic. There are benches every so often along the road.

Very small museum - only one gallery and an attached ancient chapel - but the stupendous work at the end of the gallery makes this a must see.

We were staying in Dijon on holiday from Australia. Our apartment window overlooked the Botanical Gardens, so we went in for a look. The gardens themselves are very well maintained, and a real pleasure to wander through. Although we visited in autumn, you could still see the remnants of a wonderful colourful summer display.

At one end of the gardens was a building which we discovered was the Natural History Museum. It formed a circular linear trail by inviting guests to follow a path which led from the centre to one end of the building, upstairs to the other end, back down and return. It simply reeked of education, with information and interactive displays inviting all to learn about the evolution of life. Would have made an excellent primary school excursion, but we much older folk thoroughly enjoyed it too. It is all in French; we wished our grasp of the language was far better than it actually is, but we still enjoyed and appreciated it all.

To top it off, at the other end of the garden is their Planetarium, whose permanent display (again over two storeys) focused on the science of the earth and the universe.

This "Garden of Sciences" was one of the best examples of educational displays that we have seen anywhere. Local pride of excellence at its best.
