- RenataLondon, UK16 contributionsVery nice views, it's a historical place you can do a lot of walking around as there is a park you walk by stairs or go there by car.
Before visiting, remember to get a ticket it's not far, but quite annoying that they don't sell tickets at the same place. Overall, it's worth a visitWritten 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's bigger than I anticipated with a good number of rooms open to the public. Explanatory text is available in each room. You can get an audio guide for more detailed info but I though that was a bit pricey at 5 euro on top of the 8 euro entry fee. Anyways the room text was sufficient for me. Given rhe age and history there is very little in the way of period furnishings but there are quite a few paintings and tapestries and some of ceilings have been restored. There are nice views across the water. I enjoyed my visit and was glad I made the time in my itinerary.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vickyb178 contributionsWell worth the steps up and small admission fee to see the castle and its views. Also a lovely small town to stroll around especially on market day. Nice to see some of authentic Majorca and a few shops, restaurants and cafes.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zsoltikaa38 contributionsEasy hike, takes a couple of hours (in total) in an easy pace if you park down at Es Verger restaurant (if you hike from down approximately double time).
The road up to Es Verger is really crooked and not in the best condition so be prepared.
There is a bar on top of the hill but definitely bring some water.
Wear good shoes (forget slippers) as the rocks on the upper part can be quite slippery.Written 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It shows the dangerous past of Mallorca that was raided by pirates and fortificatioins had to be built to protect it. There are few similar towers around island coastline.
There is a display inside with some old rifles and swords. On the roof there is old cannon. The view is amazing and great for family photo.
Nice walk from town along the beach and some local shrubs. But if you don't want to walk you can somehow got there in the car as there is a parking there.
There is bar with toilet that offers cold drinks and food. Considering everything is overpriced in the area the bar prices were not that much different. I've happily paid €2 for a cold drink with ice.Written 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Took the bus from Cal d’Or to Es Carritxó. Hiked 7 km up to ruins. Stunning views. Take 4 euro per person in cash. There are no loos and no snax. Hiked 7 km back down to S’Horta - very pretty route and the buses from there run half hourly.Written 21 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Esterpereira9 contributionsThe place exudes history past and the passage of illustrious figures like Ruben Dario, Chopin and George Sand. Get a good guide to really appreciate the place. Make sure you are there during the morning daily Chopin recital.Written 9 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
