A great restaurant well worth a visit, the food was delicious and the staff very friendlyWritten 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Villa Cimbrone dates back to the 11th century when it was a fortified residence.
From the Terrace of Infinity one can see the azure waters of the Mediterranean below. The views are stunning.
The gardens were also beautiful and well maintained. Some of the sights include:
-Statue of Ceres which is located in a small temple
-Crest of Mercury
-Little Temple of Bacchus
-Eve’s cave
-Statue of David), a copy of original is in the National Museum of Florenc
-Rose Garden
-Tea Room a rectangular garden next to the rose garden

It is located up a set of stairs so can be challenging for some to reach. Great view of it if sitting at one of the many cafes in the square.
It is dated back to the 9th and 10th centuries and redecorated many times in various styles.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WilliamJack0214Oxford, CT84 contributionsIn port in Salerno on a cruise, I had seen this church or more specifically the crypt of St. Matthew under the church on some blogs about Salerno. Do go...we both felt it was close to and in some ways equaled the Sistine Chapel. Big difference was this was very inexpensive to enter, almost no people when we were there and no one yelling at you to move along or tell you to not take pictures. Joking aside, go, and tell your friends to go. The ticket includes a stop at another museum or church, it is so well worth it. Trust me this too with become a destination, go see it now.Written 12 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Arnstein SOslo, Norway4 contributionsEveryting was great, Amalfi (town) (ok not great but good), the rest was Great: Ravello gardens, ferry to Positano, Positano, a walk inland under the lemon trees (near Amalfi town) etc. We travled in May and dogded the crowds. I found the roads ok, but i am used to narrow roads.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maria GMount Airy, MD48 contributionsA lovely place to stroll after dinner. Be sure to stop by the Gelateria Neptune across the street to experience some of the best gelato in the area.Written 13 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Natasha CShrewsbury, MA11 contributionsSalerno was a very nice experience, we stopped during a cruise and were fortunate enough to stumble upon a craft fair that was taking place, in addition, the local team was playing nearby so the restaurants were full of fans, and managed to visit a beautiful church. One thing that would’ve been nice would have been an Uber, we could not get one and taxis were scarce maybe because of the game. I was told Ubers didn’t go to that area and taxis were pricey. Would have liked to visited some of the sites like the monastery. But due to time constraints just walked the mail road and village. Lots of great souvenir shops and friendly people. Graffiti on some the beautiful side streets was a sad.Written 15 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Claudine FVila Nova de Famalicao, Portugal100 contributionsThis place was very beautiful. However it is very hard to reach from land, even if you have a car because there is no where to stop or park. It is best seen from the sea.Written 25 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PwyWales127 contributionsEasy to see on the hill top, but not so easy to walk there. I followed zigzag paths up from behind the cathedral. These were old and in poor condition at the start, later becoming a tidier path through the pine forest.
At the top the entrance was tricky to find. There were good views, but no access that I could find to the top. There was a museum with some old pottery but no history that I could find for the site. The area appeared run down. There was a toilet, but no food or drink. The two staff members at reception were unable to provide a map or any further information. As I’m over 65, at least entrance was free!
I decided to return via the road. That was ok apart from a short section with speeding HGVs.
I deserved food and beer when I got back to town.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Here you can find good views of the cathedral.Written 23 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Beautiful ceilings and mosaics. Otherwise, a simple interior. You now have to enter through the museum and pay a fee.Written 11 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. With its distinctive majolica-tiled dome capping its yellow-walled structure and an unpretentious 18th-century bell tower standing separately, the church is known for its 13th-century Byzantine Black Madonna above the main altar. The history of the Black Madonna, which was supposedly stolen from Constantinople by pirates, forms an important part of Positano's history as that is, after all, how Positano got its name. The church is easily reached enroute as you stroll from Piazza del Mulini where the main bus station is located, down towards the beach. The vistas from the piazza in front of the church is simply sublime!Written 22 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
