The online ticket purchase was easy, cloak room was helpful, the permanent collection was a feast for the eyes, the cafe was relaxing and the gift shop offered unique items. All I wish was that there was more to be viewed, the traveling exhibition was not opened yet so I felt the visit was too short.

There are lots of chocolate shops in town and this is one of the busiest. it is also prominently located. Nice display and friendly staff are found inside. We bought some great souvenirs.

This is a long line of old factories and warehouses that are along the river in the center of town. Not all that attractive, so happily the buildings are not all that easy to see from several perspectives.

Tierenteyn-Verlent is a historic mustard specialist at Groentenmarkt that is a fun place to visit during trips to Ghent. They have been using the same recipe since 1790 and offer pickles, spiced products and other sundries but it is the mustard that we come to purchase so that we can enjoy back home after trips to Belgium.

Opening hours now seem to be 10am to 6pm (closed on Sundays). The indoor area is a bit small and can be busy. The shopkeeper was so friendly during our last visit. We mentioned wanting to purchase an old clay jar like we had from the past. They no longer had those available but now sell a more modern style and larger jar, which they fill with their slightly sweeter mustard when you make purchase (this is fun to watch as well). Alternatively, you can purchase glass jars of both the sweeter and the spicier mustard as well.

We purchased both mustards this time around and have just now started on them back home. They are delicious and make for happy memories of time spent in Ghent and Belgium in general. Very much look forward to returning to Tierenteyn-Verlent the next time we are in the city.

After tasting Leonidas, Deduytschaever, and many other chocolates in and around Ghent, I finally found the best there is- Hilde. Her flavors are inventive and amazing. Be prepared to be awed!

Having lived until recently in Belgium, I needed to replenish my dwindling stocks of beer. A friend and I made a special trip from the NW of England, having been recommended De Hopduvel, and we weren’t disappointed.

The selection of beers was immense. I had a clear plan in advance of which beers I wanted to find, and they had every single one. The shop stocks a wide range of Trappist beers, all the popular brands, and a good offering from the newer and lesser-known breweries as well. In addition, they had a great number of rare Belgian beers which I’ve seldom, if ever, seen in beer stores, such as the Oud Beersel’s Gueuzes.

The staff were super-friendly and spoke great English. The prices are good, i.e. comparable with any other beer warehouse in Belgium; this place isn’t targeted at tourists buying the odd bottle, unlike the expensive beer shops you’ll find on the streets of Brussels or Bruges. Access and parking are easy.

Between us, we bought 10 crates of beer on the day, and are already planning our next visit for the end of the year.

I visited 5 chocolate shops in Ghent and tasted pralines in each of them, but YUZU beats them all. The chocolate is soft, it is melting in the mouth, and the aromas mix like a rapsody. I had chance to meet Mr Nicolas Vanaise who is an artist in the field of deserts. The boxes you get are of 2 pralines and up. The price is around 85€ per kilo.
Reccommend it, and is beautiful as a present.

This shop is in a great location and was welcoming. It had various kitchen and household goods for sale as well as more unusual items and was a great place to look for presents. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I was extremely fortunate to stumble upon Chocolade Ambassade, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Ghent. This small, yet enchanting craft chocolate shop struck me with the warm and inviting ambiance that the sweet and passionate owner has created. Her dedication to the craft is evident in every detail, from the beautifully arranged displays to the intricate design on each chocolate.

At Chocolade Ambassade, you'll find an exquisite selection of single-origin chocolates sourced from the finest cocoa-producing regions around the world. Each piece tells a unique story, capturing the essence of its origin through distinct flavors and textures. It's not just chocolate; it's a sensory journey that transports you to the lush cacao plantations and the skilled hands of local artisans.

The quality of the chocolate is top notch. The meticulous attention to detail in each chocolate’s creation ensures a smooth texture that melts effortlessly on your tongue, revealing layers of complex flavors. My personal favorite was the dark chocolate truffle, which offered a delicate balance of richness with velvety goodness. It's a chocolate experience I won't soon forget.

But what truly sets Chocolade Ambassade apart is the remarkable level of customer service provided by the owner. As a true aficionado, she takes the time to educate customers on the nuances of each chocolate, sharing the stories behind the cacao beans and her chocolates. Her genuine enthusiasm and infectious smile make every visit feel like catching up with a dear friend.

In conclusion, Chocolate Ambassade is a must-visit destination for all chocolate enthusiasts. Whether you're searching for a unique gift or looking to indulge your own taste buds, this extraordinary retailer offers a tantalizing array of artisanal chocolates that are sure to delight. Support this chocolate local shop and let the passionate owner guide you on a remarkable chocolate journey like no other. Your taste buds will thank you!
