Despite the low solar activity we had a great time with Northern Soul Adventures . Bogdan, our guide, did his best to find the northen lights taking us all the way to Finland. He also entertained us throughout the trip by telling us many interesting things about northen lights. Our driver Anna was also amazing, always cheerful and smily! I strongly recommend this tour! Thank you Bogdan & Anna! It was a pleasure chasing the northen lights with you! Maddalena

We booked a private tour with Northern Soul Adventures at the last minute in early January 2024, in the hope of catching the Northern Lights in Tromsø. From the outset, our experience was flawless:

Within minutes of making the reservation (which we made via Viator), we received a confirmation email from the owner and operator, Jeff - reassuring us that the booking was confirmed, setting out the start time, and seeking to establish what size of thermal suit was required for each member of our party, where we wanted to be collected and dropped off, and whether any of us required a camera tripod for the trip.

On the morning of the day of the trip, we then received a further email from Jeff, reconfirming the start time and collection location (outside our hotel).

When the start time arrived, Jeff was already waiting outside for us, with his vehicle nearby (warmed and ready for us to depart). His welcome was warm, patient and friendly. He was happy to advise us in what to wear and to bring, and happy to wait while we dashed back to our room to bring some extra layers of clothing.

Once in the vehicle (a very comfortable 4x4 VW Caravelle van), Jeff was full of information, and very well prepared. He had carefully researched the weather forecast (via several different providers) and the most recent aurora activity predictions, with a clear and reasoned plan as to where to head and why - which he explained to us all, so that we knew what to expect. We then drove out to the surrounding islands in search of clear skies and a chance to see the lights - with Jeff all the time keeping us updated of possible changes of destination (depending upon the reliability of the forecasts and feedback from other guides in other areas).

At our first stop, Jeff set us up on a beautiful beach where (with the comfort of thermal suits and foot and hand warmers provided by him) we caught a first glimpse of the Aurora - with the added benefit of a warming camp fire and some delicious lentil casserole which he had prepared at home. Jeff could not have been more helpful or accommodating - even lending us the benefit of his expertise in establishing the correct settings for our cameras.

We then moved on (at Jeff’s suggestion) to a second location - where the skies were clear and the lights were fantastic. Here, we observed the lights for some time, with hot tea and coffee, and chocolate chip cookies to fuel us as we watched.

We were back at our hotel by about 0030 hours (having departed at 1730), and had enjoyed one of the best holiday events that we have know as a family. That would not have been possible without Jeff’s patience, knowledge and willingness to help. He was an absolute delight with whom to spend the evening, and we would recommend him to anyone. He speaks flawless English, Danish, German and Norwegian, and his wife (Hannah - who is English) also offers local guiding. Do please make use of their services - you will not regret it!

Seeing the Northern Lights was in ny bucket list for so long and I'm so happy I booked a tour with Chasing Lights. The guide Lucie and the driver Patrick were amazing, we started with a bad forecast but they are a very well oiled machine and as soon as they communicate to each other that the sky is opening somewhere else they change route. It seemed like we needed to drive to Finland border but we were lucky and the sky started opening soon. We did few stops and at the beginning it was very gentle and faint and Lucie was showing us where to look in her camera display, but then, Man! We had amazing lights, arches in the sky from a mountaintop to another and it was just perfect. She took a lot of photos of us and of the lights, they set up a campfire with hot dinner, tea and cookies.
And the best part is that they drop you off at the hotel or, in my case, at your airbnb so you don't have to walk alone in the middle of the night. It took us 8 hours and it was worth every minute.

If you are into nature and breathtaking sights, we highly recommend their 2-day Summer and Sightseeing Tour in Lofoten. We visited many of the scenic highlights that we would not have been able to cover driving on our own. I would say the Lofoten archipelago is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. Our driver-guide Eric is a journalist and photographer so not only did we learn some new photo skills but also had some interesting discussions about Norway and the state of the world in general. We also met very nice fellow travelers in our group with whom we shared many travel tips, stories and contacts. Booking is very easy through their website and the company is very prompt in responding to all our questions. The company, based in Svolvaer, has been in business for many years so you can be assured of highly professional and reputable service. It is our dream to go back and perhaps do their winter Northern Lights tour soon before the earth melts!

Marius and Yoel were great tour guide and shuttle driver respectively. Both Marius and Yoel were very helpful and accommodating of the guest requests. Additionally, Marius was very informative and knowledgeable of the fjords and surrounding scenic sites. He entertained us by providing his personal insights which made the shuttle ride more enjoyable. Highly recommended...both Marius and Yoel deserve a 5 star rating!

We did a delightful small-group hike with our guide, Geoffrey, and Anna & Ivan and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We drove away from the crowds, and found ourselves on a lovely climb to beautiful views. The entire day was completely enjoyable, and I would highly recommend this option to anyone but especially as an alternative to a cruise excursion. No crowds, just beautiful nature and great company.

The tour was excellent, Andrei very good guide/driver. We have been lucky with the wheather, beautiful landscape. Andrei stops many times in panoramic points to let us take photos, and we had hot beverages and cake. Everything went well. If you are in Tromso Enjoy the Arctic is really recommended.

The staff were great - very knowledgable about the fascinating history of the boat, as well as the fish and geology of Tromso and its fjords. We went with Hermes II for my partner's birthday and the crew were super friendly and welcoming. Gorgeous boat, really comfortable. Fishing along the fjords at dusk, when it started to gently snow, is a memory I won't forget. Thank you to Hermes II!

I reached out to Robin for last minute reservation inquiry and he was very prompt to reply and managed to accommodate my last minute request during the busy tourist season.
I very much enjoyed his friendly spirit throughout the tour and his effort to ensure that we all had a great experience chasing the Northern Lights (even at one point attempted to talk to a homeowner who had outdoor lights obstructing our night sky view). Also, his skills at taking pictures of the Northern Lights did not disappoint.

The tour was even more delightfully by the presence of his lovely pet, Burger.
Thank you Robin and Burger for a memorable Northern Lights Tour.

We were both picked up and dropped off at our accommodation which was a great bonus of this tour. Our guide was the delightful Nicoletta whose company and knowledge we very much enjoyed. It turned out that we were the only two people on this tour so we very much had our own private tour! I booked this even though we are not photographers as it seemed it offered what I wanted, which was a scenic tour of the islands. The weather was not fabulous - lots of snow and hail on and off but this did not detract from the beauty of this place. We also saw Cormorant sitting on an old pier drying their wings, a couple of eagles soaring high above a fjord and some baby Ermine! We stopped to have hot chocolate and later at a coffee shop for coffee and cake. We even popped into a local shop selling beautiful hats and knitted items where we purchased a couple of momentos made from Alpaca wool. We loved our tour even though it had to be cut slightly short due to the weather Maurizio deducted some money from the cost to compensate. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. I would definitely recommend this company. I booked this before we left home after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor and I was not disappointed.
