    Absolutely Fantastic Christmas Present

Stuck for ideas for a Christmas present for my daughter and her 2 children, I came across the Alpaca Walking at Walton Hall Gardens in Warrington. Realising what a fantastic idea this was I booked a private session for a Saturday morning in February. Luckily the weather was dry, mild and bright but I don't think the rain would have dampened our spirits. We were met by Kyle one of the zoo rangers and as we were to find out he's an expert on all things alpaca. After being introduced to the 3 lovely alpacas Topaz, Jim and Mally, Kyle gave us some instructions on how to walk them and also told us about the character and nature of each of the alpacas. His depth of knowledge about the alpacas was second to none and all the facts he imparted to us were interesting and informative. The walk takes you around the grounds of Walton Hall and Kyle gave us lots of information and interesting facts about the hall and its grounds. The walk takes place earlier in the day before the park gets too busy. Bring your wellies if the ground is sodden, you'll need them! The present was a big hit with my daughter and 2 grandchildren, one of whom has additional needs and didn't stop smiling all throughout the walk! Plenty of photos were taken by us and Kyle helped by taking photos of us all together. After the walk we had refreshments in the on site cafe. The red velvet slice had been recommended by Kyle and he was right, they were delicious! We all had a great time and I would definitely recommend this experience. It made an absolutely fantastic Christmas present.

Enjoyed our stay at the hotel, pleasant room.

Park had good rides for the younger ones, but it could do with a coat of paint and tidy up, although the kids didn’t notice, they really enjoyed it.

The show on Saturday night was good fun and perfectly pitched for children. Kudos to the three young entertainers, Sinead, Charlotte and another young lad, having to deal with some children who kept getting up on the stage and throwing things, they handled it extremely well. Shame on the parents for not giving a dam, or telling them to stop. It wasn’t fair on the performers or other people in the audience, but they remained professional.

Would come again, but maybe when it’s a bit warmer.

The museum is located in the town’s library and is a short walk away from Bank Quay station.

There is a very diverse range of exhibits. Lots of fossils, birds, fish and other creatures on show.

I particularly liked the Woolston Seal who famously swam up the Mersey in the early 20th century.

Warrington through the ages is well portrayed from its days as a Roman town through to its reemergence as a new town.

There is plenty of information about the local industries - wire production, iron and steel works, leather and tanning and velvet cutting to name just a few.

A couple of exhibitions are currently on show. Local born graphic designer Andie Airfix with a wide range of album covers for the likes of Def Leppard and Metallica amongst others.

There is also an exhibition called Scribble by illustrator Tony Green.

Other notable pieces of art on show were by Luke Fildes and Henry Woods from the Warrington school, sculptures by John Warrington Wood, a portrait of George Formby by Herbert Wilkinson and another portrait of jockey Steve Donoghue by John Barrie.

I spent an enjoyable hour or so browsing and admission is free. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Lovely walk around with friends, the round trip around the dam is an easily accessible route. Parking is available if you get there early enough.

Excellent place to come with children however the food bar is appalling. Rating of a 3 which can instantly put someone off . States you cannot bring food with you I highly advise people to bring food as the place is ran by kids and hardly any staff around the site so I couldn't really see any of them approaching about food bought in. The food prices were outrageous £4.00 for a ham sandwich with margarine used and fatty ham . Hot dog £4 (not to bad for a hotdog) however the sausage was awful cheap and nasty.

Ice cream fantastic great price too .

Chips not cooked enough however if they were, they could be decent .

The entertainment there is excellent I cannot fault it but the food really does let the place down

We paid our first visit to the museum on their recent open day. Very impressed with all the work that the volunteers have done to create an excellent museum in the very best of historic surroundings. Everyone was very welcoming and knowledgeable and they had done fitting justice to the history of the Cheshire constabulary and the local police forces that preceded it. It was great seeing the inside of the magnificent building again and the use that has been made of it’s features, including the original cell area. A fitting tribute to all the past officers that have served the county and a great resource.

Really impressed with the new electric karts and lick of paint at the Warrington branch! The whole place felt a lot cleaner and presentable. We got delayed approx 30mins for our races but not a big issue. New track layout was also a nice change.
