- 933terrywRochester3 contributionsIf you only have a day to spend in Norfolk, then this is the place to go.
Such a variety of exhibits, showing life in bygone days, some of which I remember!
How farming has changed is fascinating, and seeing the animals.
The workhouse was not all bad, and the system did not end until 1946!
The cafe was good for a midday snack.
The staff throughout are enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable.Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The building was very interesting, as was the information displayed around the rooms, although steep stairs and small rooms would make it very difficult for those with mobility issues.Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jo rLeicestershire, UK37 contributionsVery nicely restored windmill (not working) with displays and things to look at over several floors. Very steep little steps, glad I wore trainers, may not be suitable for all. I liked spotting the knitted mice! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. The cafe is amazing - lovely fresh scones (cheese and bacon), warm sausage rolls, different cakes including several gluten free. I had gf millionnaires shortbread which was the best I've ever had. We sat outside as it was warm but the cafe looked lovely inside too. They also sell lovely craft items in the cafe. I bought some very nice vintage buttons. Such friendly staff it was a lovely visit and will definitely go back.Written 28 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 141jengEvesham, UK688 contributionsWe were staying in the area and had been told to check out the chapel ruins.
We did and it was pleasant to walk around and explore.
It was a lovely sunny afternoon and was peaceful.Written 24 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a big church for a fairly small village. Very old church yard.Written 9 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David HNorwich, UK470 contributionsthere isn't a great deal of the castle left now.there is an information board when you enter the gate into the grounds. All that is left now is the moat and the hill it used to stand on.At the top of the mound is some remains of the castle, where you can make out the layout of the castleWritten 3 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TerrySymondsNorwich, UK45 contributionsA lovely place to visit with it's extensive gardens. The lady here designed a bed for us (for a very reasonable fee) and supplied the plants. We've been very satisfied with the results as the bed has matured. We are really sorry now that the place is no longer open to the public, however I believe that the ladies may open it on special occasions.Written 28 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Considered ReviewNorwich, UK1,951 contributionsA superb site to spend a few minutes at. Free to see and located just behind the main church in Dereham, this delightful historical grotto is place to ponder and let the past live again on your imagination.
I like the understated nature of the site, but it seems a shame it doesn't have more of a fanfare, a celebration of its existence, than is the case. A lovely place.Written 23 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The town centre is well served with chops, cafes and restaurants and the surrounding nearby industrial estates and retail parks means everyone's retail wishes are met. Good plentiful free parking throughout. A great place to shop.Written 22 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sandra D2 contributionsWe were looking for something to do as a family during a Sunday afternoon and came across this fantastic place. My three children had a great time with lots of games and consoles to try. The staff were friendly and really helpful. We would definitely come back again. My eldest is disappointed we live so far away!Written 15 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Clivel_98Hereford, UK1,439 contributionsset back from the road across what is known as a 'camping ground' (essentially, a football pitch), this reasonably large church has a fourteenth century tower. inside, the windows are 15th century chased. There are some stained glass windows, including one made from a collection of pieces of medieval glass.
There is the head of a Saxon cross set into a niche in the wall as well.Written 23 May 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
