We found great results, but some are outside Douvres-la-Delivrande. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to Douvres-la-Delivrande.

I think everyone who visits the American cemetery in Normandy should also visit the Canadian site as well.
Our family (two children ages 10 and 12) visited as part of our experience of WWII sites in Normandy.

Hillman Site Colleville-Montgomery 5.9 km away
#1 of 1 Sights & Landmarks in Colleville-Montgomery
The roads leading up to the site are windy and narrow in places, the locals drive quite quickly so be prepared, especially if coming up the hill from the town.

Despite history classes, books read and movies watched we were very surprised at how much we were learning at each memorial site and museum.
It has great views on the beaches as well as being very well presented in terms of history and artifacts from the war.

The museum is a short distance from the site of the glider landings, and houses the original bridge (which was removed in the early 90's) a replica Horsa glider, and many items of clothing, weapons, and memorials.
This is a wonderful museum, a bit away from the rest of the D-Day sites (35 minutes from Bayeux, 15 K from Caen), but worth the trip.
Pegasus Bridge Ranville 9.4 km away
#3 of 3 Sights & Landmarks in Ranville
It is well worth the short 5 minute walk to the original site of the Pegasus Bridge, just to see the amazing feat of how accurate the gliders were at landing.
We visited the Pegasus Bridge Museum in Ranville on the last day of our holidays having spent a week visiting other museums, memorials and landing sites connected to the Battle of Normandy - to be honest it was to...

The site of the Riva Bella Casino, captured by Philippe Kieffer's inter-Allied (French) Commando unit, is a sobering reminder of how motivated that fighting force must have been when landing on their own soil with...

Eglise Saint-Pierre Caen 12.5 km away
#3 of 16 Sights & Landmarks in Caen
It can be seen from far away and is a good landmark to guide your walk to the city centre.
St Pierre is a good example of a church that has survived several priods of destruction or neglect to give a view of life and religion in Normandy.

As a Canadian, this site was the most humbling and sorrowful piece of military history I've visited in Normandy.
We saw this grave site as part of the Normandy Sightseeing tour for Canadians.
