I had an amazing experience with a cool group of folks coming from various countries and continents. I did this trip solo and it was a great choice to explore the city of Minca and see their coffee and cocoa process. We also was able to get a nice history of the land along with the animals that inhabit the area. A definite must if you are exploring the Santa Marta area.

We had a wonderful day on the tour!

First of all, our guide Sam was wonderful! He was funny, kind and very attentive. He made sure to learn all of our names at the beginning of the tour and took very well care of us. Sam always encouraged to ask questions and answered all of them. He spoke Spanish and English very well and translated accurately. He also made sure to tell us little amounts of info and then translate rather than talking for a long time in one language. He also translated all of the questions that were asked.

The tour was very informative and included the following: Walking to a little family coffee farm with some birds, brief information about coffee making (30min) and a tasting. They also sold their own coffee and coffee liquor. Afterwards, we hiked to a waterfall and took a bath. Sam even showed us how to climb the rocks!

We hiked back to Minca to a bamboo house with a wonderful view over the jungle Valley for lunch (around 45 min. - the longest hike). Lunch was delicious and plenty. Salad, main course (rice, veggies and protein (chicken or soy-based)) and dessert. We had the vegetarian option and loved the meal (they asked for dietary restrictions before the tour). Afterward, we learned about Colombian's biodiversity, bamboo houses and cocoa making (and got to try cocoa at every step of the process up to chocolate). They even sold some locally produced cocoa products.

Overall it was an exhausting day but we enjoyed it so much! We definitely would recommend this tour and Sam!

This experience exceeded all expectations. The tour guides were amazing and extremely knowledgeable of everything, from the plants you’d hike by to the process of coffee and cocoa! You’ll come across different varieties of animals and birds! Get ready for an authentic ride in motorcycles though the jungle, enjoy the ride and get ready to live the most unforgettable experience!!!

Wow!! that was Amazing! the visit to the Tungueka Indigenous tribe was unforgettable, they are amazing people, it was lovely to learn more about their culture and tradition, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind, we were a group of 4 and he was all the time making us feel great. The whole way to the village is unique around the forest, please do not forget your mosquito-repellent, then we went to the river and a waterfall and we swim there for sometime, the atmosphere was soo beautiful! definitely recommended!

Spectacular, magical place, still fairly untouched with enough good balance of modernity, but definitely nature steals the show.
At the coffee farm they also has a microbrewery the whole things is amazing

Had an amazing bird watching trip with Antonio Martin
He is an ornithologist and biologist and is incredibly knowledgeable about the birds in the area. He was able to identify them by sound, find them and point them out which really added to the day
Fidel was also really helpful and accommodating
    We had a fantastic day
    10/10
We were picked up at Tayrona but it would be better to stay at Minca

I did the 3 day / 2 night trek with Leo in July, im travelling solo and there were no other bookers so it turned into a private tour. I booked as an alternative to the busy ‘lost city’ trek with its uncomfortable campsites & facilities.

Other than the farmers we stayed with, we didn’t meet any other people on the way so it was a real ‘off the beaten track’ activity.

I can honestly say this was one of the most challenging, enjoyable and rewarding things I have every done.

The heat & humidity make the going pretty tough, as do the narrow paths / steep slopes and bugs. However the incredible views, meeting the local farmers & the sense of accomplishment make it all worthwhile.

Leo is an excellent guide with a sharp eye for spotting the various creatures that we encountered along the way. He was able to explain in fluent English all about the various plants, animals, eco systems & cultural practices, whilst ensuring we arrived safely at each destination.

I would absolutely recommend this trek & the guide services of Leo to anybody visiting the area, especially if you want to get away from the crowds and truly experience the beauty of this region.

Thank you Leo for a great trip !

Hiking- strenuous, the heat and humidity make this technically easy trekking a real challenge
Accommodation- the hygiene standards are unspeakably low, not only the bathrooms and showers are disgusting, the worst things are the dogs which are walking freely and sleeping in the tourist ‘s bedrooms and peeing at the bed posts, backpacks or what else is in their way
Sightseeing- the lost city is an interesting place but frankly speaking there is not really to be seen a lot, it needs a lot of imagination...and there is not a lot of literature around which can explain the place
