We arrived late and only had a few minutes but the lady working the desk so so kind and kept the museum open for us for extra time. It's amazing the things that have come from the Maya sites that are on display. I appreciated how the small museum moves from oldest to youngest so you could see the progression of their arts.

An extremely well curated exhibit. Although I would say, I wish there were more to see!! 2 floors were simply not enough. I enjoyed the kids exhibit in the basement also. Marcelo at the front desk was a delight! Courteous and willing to help. I definitely enjoyed my visit.

Great place to visit! Guatemalans enter free; foreigners pay Q40. Regardless you have to join a 45-minute guided tour.

I took the tour in Spanish but my tour guide spoke really good English as well and was eager to answer my questions.

This museum was conveniently located right next to the Museo Popol Vuh... I'm normally not interested in clothes or textiles at all but enjoyed this museum because I found it so interesting...

We were not expecting to spend as much time as we did here. The Mayan estelas are particularly striking. There were a number of small statuettes from both the classic and post-classic periods that were well displayed. Some sections of the museum did not have descriptions in English which was a little frustrating.

I had a wonderful time at this museum. The staff went out of their way to speak English to my daughter and she got a lot of one on one attention. The exhibits are super fun and also very new and cleaning looking. And, of course, educational. Highly recommended!

My recent visit to this museum was wonderful. Be prepared to be awestruck by some extremely great paintings and sculptures. The Museum itself is a landmark.

Small museum with a lot of history. Be ready to explore old trains, wagons, even presidential suites; all of which surrounded by 1940's train station.
The museum also has small gift shop, mostly "farmer's market" stores, drinks and food.
All of which can be done en 1 hour.

Good to learn more about the money and coins of Guatemala, with some info about the history as well. Free to visit, nice exhibits and air-con, but no photos allowed inside.

Worth paying he small entrance fee, Mima offers a fascinating window on the life of its owners. The rooms are beautifully preserved and the courtyard is full of lovely blooming plants that attract tiny humming birds.

I was really curious about it, went to the address I had on Lonely Planet, but there was nothing there! I tried knocking on the door , still nothing. I asked people that work around, a police officer , and the hostel staff and they never heard about it!

This museum houses information about the "disappearance" of thousands of Mayans during the years of conflict in the last century. The young tour guide was excellent. This information is not presented in any of the other Mayan museums in Guatemala City . Highly recommend including this in your visit.
