I have wanted to go to Semuc Champey with my dad and my son for a while now. As someone who grew up in Guatemala but has lived in the US for over 15 years, sharing my absolute favorite place in Guatemala with people I love has been a big dream of mine. But the truth is that planning a trip for my family to a place like Semuc Champey takes a lot of work.
That's where Guat2do Travel Experiences came to the rescue! When we decided to go on our adventure to Semuc Champey, I knew I needed someone who could handle all the details and create an experience that would be suited for both my 78-year-old dad and my teenage son. Guat2do really came through and went above and beyond.
Right from the start, it was clear that they were dedicated to making our trip amazing. They listened to what we wanted and made a custom day tour from Coban that was just perfect for our family. They handled everything—like transportation, entrance fees, and a fantastic guide who shared information about Semuc Champey and even took the best photos. And the lunch they set up for us was delicious and just what we needed for our adventure!
But the best part of booking our tour with Guat2do was how much they cared about our safety and comfort the whole time. With them leading the way, we could relax and focus on making memories as a family, knowing that every little thing was taken care of. They really made our trip to Semuc Champey a fantastic experience!

I am SO glad I found My Mayan Trip's Jorge Sanchez when I was doing deep planning for our Guatemala trip. We wanted to go from the airport into Guatemala City to Antigua to Panajachel and back to the airport over 9 days. Jorge worked with me on the itinerary and made great suggestions for touring stops along the way. (We took all of them!) He was almost instantaneously responsive to my emails and messages. I had the complete itinerary, costs, and dates all confirmed within a couple days - and weeks before we arrived in Guatemala. That gave me huge peace of mind.

This is a father-and-son business so you get personal, timely service. Jorge and I connected on Whatsapp and email - with Whatsapp being our primary messaging in Guatemala. Both he and son, Luis, are excellent drivers, personable, and helpful. We were 3 people (spanning 18 years old to early 70s!) and luggage, and there was the room we needed. Luis was our primary driver, and we enjoyed our chats with him and enjoyed his company at meals on the road and benefitted from his touring advice too.

    Our trip:
-I arranged with Jorge for our airport pick-up to our hotel
-Luis collected us to go to Antigua and toured us there (the recommendation Jorge made to me for touring Cerro de la Cruz and Finca La Azotea)
-He collected us in Antigua to go to Panajachecl via stops at Iximche (Mayan Runs) and Chichicastenango (artisan's market in the northern highlands)
[and recommended, if we took a Lake Atitlan boat trip, we go to San Juan La Laguna - which we did)
-Luis then collected us in Panajachel to get to Aurora airport (Guate City)

Jorge also helped me out with a cell phone issue after we arrived.

Before we left the US, Jorge gave me info on entry into Guatemala (immigration form link that you also need to fill in up to 24 hrs before you exit Guatemala).

There were no hidden costs as Jorge also gave me planning info on entrance fees etc that would be our responsibility. I knew exactly what each trip would cost. Before I left the US, I prepared a labeled envelope for each trip putting in the US$ cost and the tip. (Make sure you get new, unmarked, not-torn bills or the bank will reject them. This is common in most countries.)

My girlfriend and I made a trip organized by Safe Travel, they were really helpful from the beginning, like answering back our messages at anytime, picking us at the airport and taking us somewhere to have dinner and then to the bus station. Once we arrived to Petén there was someone waiting for us to take us to the hotel.
The next day we went to the Mayan Ruins which was organized by them too, it was one of the best trips ever.
They also organized our transportation from Guatemala City to Antigua, picking us up at 5:30am and from Antigua to the airport...
All the drivers were really friendly and helpful, I recommend them 100%.

Everybody was super rude - starting from the security lady at the bus station, to the front desk woman and the driver.
“PRIMERA PLUS” buses are just regular buses in which the seats recline enough to not let the person behind you breathe at all.
Wifi did work in our trip.
We made a “15-minute” stop which actually turned out to be nearly an hour.
My partner and I had to be before 7.30pm so that the hotel boat shuttle could pick us up and we nearly didn’t make it.
There is no respect whatsoever on the timings and zero professionalism.

Caught the hedman allas service from Copan to San Pedro Sula. Bus was late leaving the terminal and, much to our dismay, air con fully broken on the bus (air temp was 40 degrees celsius on our day of travel). Toilet also out of service. You required hulk-like strength to open the windows. The one window that we did prize open then wafted smoke laden warm air in and around my mouth and nose. I complained to the bus man regarding lack of AC. To be fair, he did get another bus man to smack the broken AC with a pair of pliers. Unsurprisingly, this didn’t fix it. Sweat was pouring out of me for many hours. It was horrendous, relentless and on balance, a living nightmare. Meanwhile, my girlfriend was holding back the vomits induced by the mad, bumpy, windy roads on our way to SPS. Admittedly the quality of the roads have nothing to do with this bus company. I had downloaded “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” on my phone and we watched that which was nice. Could be good if AC and loo was working.

My family booked a Pacaya hiking tour and transportation to the airport through Alex. Alex is friendly, honest, accommodating, and provides excellent service. He took the time to understand our needs and offered suggestions which resulted in cost saving without compromising convenience. Everything was delivered as described, on time and worry-free. We highly recommend working with Alex on your local travel needs.

So I was in Guatemala for a Music Festival and I was using a Shuttle to go from the city to the festival. The music festival was offering a Free shuttle ride, but it was limited and only ran a few times a day. So I decided to use Urban Taxi' s Shuttle service that they were offering. I figured since I was paying I would get to the festival faster since the next free shuttle wasn't until 5:00 pm and at this time it was 2:00 pm. But low and behold that after I paid they told me that the next shuttle wouldn't be until 4:00 pm and I was like "ok, the band I really want to see will be on stage at 5:30 pm (it's about an hour trip)" and then it turned out that they weren't anymore shuttle from Urban Taxi but rather they were using the Free Shuttle. So they charged for a Free Service and refused to refund my money. I do not recommend this service and I suggest that you either the taxis that are roaming around or Uber. Urban Taxi are just some Scam Artist.
