- Nino SPalmetto, FL8 contributionsI needed to find a place to hangout prior to my flight from nearby La Aurora Airport, and found this gem. There are a great variety of animals, mammals, reptiles, birds. The facility is clean and well cared for. The animals were quite active mid-day in early April. The water features here and there and natural trees throughout add to the peacefulness all around. There were plenty of children’s activities available. The value for the entry fee was very high. Unfortunately for me was most signage was solely in Spanish. So I carried my backpack around only to discover on my way out there were hidden lockers you could rent. So, if you’re like me ask at the entrance or get a brochure/map. ( I got there late and thought i’d be running through so didn’t bother. It turns out it was Easter and they were not rushing anyone out, so I stayed long past the posted entry hours)Written 14 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Juan Andres A1 contributionPaseo Cayala it's a small city placed in Guatemala that have 63 acres of land, this city has a lot of entertainment things to do. Some of the things that have it, is combined housing, dining, shopping, and business districts. The exact direction of Cayala is Blvr. Rafael Landivar 10-05, Cdad. de Guatemala. The architecture of Cayala makes tourists visit it, the style it has is postcolonial. Simulates an all-white town with its own church and luxury hotel.
The ambiance that offers Paseo Cayala is relax and to enjoy the nature combined with shopping and restaurants. The two things in one makes Paseo Cayala have people consuming everyday their facilities and shops. In the terms of shopping have a lot and diverse stores of clothing, shoes, accessories, gifts, and jewelry. The restaurants don't stay behind with their options, have Italian food, Greek, Mexican, and typical. This many things the visitors love it and that is because come again.
Paseo Cayala also have some many things of entertainment that include all ages. Some of that things is canopy, laser tag, fair, cinema and special place for kids with games. Sometimes Paseo Cayala have activities that is for seasons. In the other side of the architecture of Cayala is the restaurants of Fast Food and others. Also has discos, Futeca that is for soccer, Golf, and a special place for events/concerts.
Is a place that every day is clean because their cleaning team has good order. All the people involucrate in Cayala management makes Paseo Cayala have the best organization when you talk about a big place. In every corner is a special agent that guard the people there. The size of Cayala makes have a special maintenance every often. All these things have a good impact of the visitors, also is pet friendly.
In conclusion, the city of Paseo Cayala is very complete when it comes to things to do or eat. It has many stores to buy what you can think of. Cayala's gastronomy plays a very important role since it is one of the things that distinguishes it the most. The entertainment has a variation that is very complete. Paseo Cayala is a place where you can do everything with your family and have an unforgettable moment.Written 17 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cris K1 contributionAn extremely well curated exhibit. Although I would say, I wish there were more to see!! 2 floors were simply not enough. I enjoyed the kids exhibit in the basement also. Marcelo at the front desk was a delight! Courteous and willing to help. I definitely enjoyed my visit.Written 26 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Myo MCoquitlam, Canada23,602 contributionsReally "quite awesome" once stepped inside this cathedral was seeing its main aisle which I would just describe as one "packed with grandness" where along its both sides are not small but "quite sizeable" paintings depicting the life events of Christ (and with brief descriptions of the artists below from which can be determined the "historic ages" of the paintings themselves!) and also a "unique sight" (as such had been seen in no other cathedral before) which is that of "super-sized" medals likely kind of bigger versions of the medals awarded in this country for exceptional services & such. So yes, a big cathedral with quite plentiful to see inside where apart from those along the main aisle are also shrines & secondary altars (along the two length-side aisles) also with their own displays of interesting sculptures & such, this cathedral actually is one reminiscent for me of those in South America (with grand & ornate interiors in many of the "main cathedrals" of the cities) than in Central America (with just generally plain cathedral interiors from Panama & up with a few exceptions such as the Cathedral of Leon in Nicaragua & the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City).
And with the entrance from a "pedestrian street" located on the south side, very conveniently right beside that entrance is Mercado Central (a great place for all kinds of Guatemala souvenirs & also like a food court down below for some delicious "local meals"). And yes, also definitely to stop by while at this area are the 2 sites at just a very short walk from this cathedral (to the right after coming out): the city's "main plaza" Plaza Mayor de la Constitucion (with really quite a bit of space to walk around where at about its center are a big national flag & a fountain and yes where the "west face" of this cathedral is on the Plaza's east side) and the "long building" of Palacio Nacional de la Cultura on the Plaza's north side (with 2 levels of a "fairly impressive" interior to see on an hourly-or-so "guided tour").Written 6 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sam WGaithersburg, MD8 contributionsWent there on a Sunday morning. Not many people there as lot of Guatemalan are in Church. Did not spend a lot of time there and did not eat there. The place is a bit shady but in general it is safe. We did ask around prior to getting there. However, we bought so many things so we had to give up spending more time there but to take an Uber back to hotel.Written 31 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James BClermont, FL1 contributionI had a wonderful time at this museum. The staff went out of their way to speak English to my daughter and she got a lot of one on one attention. The exhibits are super fun and also very new and cleaning looking. And, of course, educational. Highly recommended!Written 15 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marcos C4 contributionsSmall museum with a lot of history. Be ready to explore old trains, wagons, even presidential suites; all of which surrounded by 1940's train station.
The museum also has small gift shop, mostly "farmer's market" stores, drinks and food.
All of which can be done en 1 hour.Written 16 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. "Plaza Mayor, Plaza Central, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de los Lamentos, Parque Central" and, lately, "Plaza Mayor de la Constitución"! Right after the major earthquakes of 1773, known as the "Terremotos de Santa MarÃa", which destroyed the city of "Santiago de los Caballeros" (the actual "Antigua"), the Spanish authorities decided to build a new city - "Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción" (the actual "Ciudad de Guatemala") - replacing the former capital. As traditional in the colonial years, a central square was mandatory in all towns. So, "Plaza Mayor de la Constitución" dates from 1776 and its central fountain, known as "Fuente de Carlos III", was erected in 1779. The square, located in Ciudad de Guatemala's Zone 1, is the very heart of the historical district. It is sided by important buildings and parks, such as the "Palacio Nacional de la Cultura" (the former presidential palace), the "Catedral Metropolitana", the "Biblioteca Nacional de Guatemala", the "Portal del Comércio" and the "Parque Centenário". After the 1976 earthquakes, "Plaza Mayor de la Constitución" was completely renovated, with the construction of an underground parking area. Nevertheless, after the conversion of the presidential palace into a museum, the square has lost much of its past glory and political importance, but it is still an outstanding tourist attraction and should be visited! Enjoy!Written 6 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- cantwaittogoagainDallas, TX116 contributionsBecause we knew about this site before we took our trip, it was on our bucket list because of its status as a very influential pre-classic site. I wish more objects where left in place in the little on site museum instead of having to travel to the Popo Vuhul Museum and others to see what was found there. I also wish there were more explanations available of how they build in the early time period of its settlement versus later. After being at Tikal it's a big step down, but understanding how much older it is would give a better perspective.Written 19 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
