I got next day tickets for the lancha colectiva. Not sure if there’s any price difference if you get your hotel to book it but the lancha collects and drops off at hotels along the route.

After a short detour up river to the Castillo San Felipe we headed down to Livingston. One stop for bathroom/ refreshment before arrival around 90 mins after setting out.

Livingston is definitely worth two or three hours. Gentle stroll up the main drag and along the waterfront with loads of places to snack or lunch. Pick up was 14.30 for a slightly shorter run back and drop off at my hotel. I had a really nice tapado at Bugamamas.

Some people might freak out at the absence of (visible?) life jackets.

If I had my time over again, I might have stayed just a night in Fronteras or even gone straight on to Livingston after drop off after my shuttle from Flores. I’d say Livingston is a better place for a couple of days chill than Fronteras. I could then have gone on to Puerto Barrios to discover its grittiness then flown on to C de Guate rather than the five hour shuttle run from Fronteras.

Would recommend a trip if you’re in the Livingston area. We’d heard talk of “tours” to Siete Altares and that is absolutely not necessary (unless you prefer it!) - it’s a nice walk along the coast (or a slightly faster combo of through the town and along the coast - joining the coastal walk at the pedestrian bridge). I think it took us about an hour and half at a very relaxed pace from our accommodation at Casa Nostra. It’s well signposted on the walk and there’s some simple facilities at the entrance, toilet, shop etc and a small entrance fee. Make sure you navigate over the rocks all the way to the top pool if you can - by far the nicest for a dip, and to jump off the waterfall into!

I spent 5 days in Vuelbemujer that was a really good experience. I expected to live this kind of forest’s life in Central America and I’m glad it happened. I could enjoy one a day tour or we can enjoy hiking, view point and sport practise like kayak, kayuko and paddle. I did also a night tour to discover different places to hangout, dance and try local food like pupusas. Me gusta mucho ;)
I recommend this unique experience 100%
    Thanks Rabier for your hospitality!

This is a community-tourism visit : what you pay the guide Raoul will be distributed among his community in the Aldea Grande Tatin to buy medicine or school supplies for instance.
You can arrive or leave via road using a pickup from Livingston or a lancha (boat). What we did was arrive by road and leave by lancha. We visited a bit the village, did a 30mn walk to the cave where we enjoyed a mayan ceremony which was very interesting.
Then we visited the rest of the cave where there is water and you can go swim using a ladder. Apparently there's a lot of cool stuff to see if you swim like waterfalls but we didn't bring our swimsuits :(
Then, we continued to the river by passing through the local high school (colegio) which was very interesting as the students learn about agriculture and the grounds are really cool! There is also a small crafts shop selling great stuff and a restaurant that shares its profits with the school.
We ate at Aguas Calientes since it was unfortunately closed, and you can visit the hot springs there as well.
This tour is managed by Raoul a great guide who does it for his community. It's really customizable depending on what you like (you can also eat hen or fried fish if you're interested) so you should definitely contact his wife Lilian Lilian via Whatsapp at +50256271865 to organize it. It's worth it to learn about the village and the mayan quiq'che life!
