The co-existence of mosaics of Prophet Essa (Jesus Christ) and his mother with Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) perfectly illustrates the tolerance and moderation of the Ottoman Sultans.
Elements of the history of the Hagia Sophia can be viewed today from the beautiful Byzantine mosaics through to the mihrab, minarets and beautiful calligraphy on the dome that marks its time as a mosque.

Sultans hunting lodge with pretty garden, perfectly restored with beautiful stained glass doors which cast magical colours onto the exquisite ceilings, I thought this was one of the prettiest buildings here.
... indeed a mix of baroque and rococo, means rich (!), an though many foreign guests were invited here during the Ottoman period, the small palace and gardens are still a treasure in a perfect setting and location.
