I had an enjoyable time with Maher our guide. He was local Bahraini and regaled us with stories of his youth, and the city. Besides being informative, he was punctual with the pick-up, and most importantly communicated very well in English. A friendly, warm, smiley chap :) We first visited the famous Bahrain Al Fateh Grand Mosque 🕌 with a most engaging tour inside. We then made our way to the Bahrain National Museum whereby Maher brought us around, providing fascinating commentary whilst patiently answering our questions. After that, we visited the UNESCO site of the Bahrain Fort. This was my favourite stop. However it was already noon so the sun was literally blazing above us. Perhaps the only suggestion for change is to start with the Fort in the morning whilst it is less hot, and to do all the in-door attractions in the late morning and afternoon.
We finally ended with a fun but brief tour of the Bahrain Souk. (I believe it was the Bab El-Bahrain Souk in Manama). Wish we spent more time here. Maher was exceedingly helpful in bringing us through narrow lanes to find perfumed oils and local snacks.
Totally recommend Maher as your guide!! :)
