What travellers are saying
- podrozniczka60New Jersey14,341 contributionsThis is a very interesting and vibrant place to walk through. Many merchants offering all kinds of typical Egyptian goods. It is located parallel to the river and getting to it from that direction requires paying attention crossing the streets due to crazy traffic. Start at the railroad station area and keep on going. Busy, crowded but seems safe.
You can recognize the stores owned by Nubians by specific symbols including the triangle with the eye inside.Written 6 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - ogerkanNew York City, NY4,323 contributionsWe enjoyed our visit to the Souk. Best at night with the lights and the crowds. Be prepared to engage with the shop keepers and street seller. Most were respectful but few did annoy. We found interesting shops with hand made items along the way but it was by far the exception.Written 24 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Giovanna T.7 contributionsI found Sam on facebook after seeing his name floating around. We reached out to him and gave him everything we were hoping to see and he came back with a complete itinerary. Words can not begin to describe how amazing he helped our trip be. He took us everywhere we asked for plus some. He allowed us to try snacks galore and lots of yummy food making constant stops on the side of the road to buy us tasting necessities. He let us just enjoy literally every minute of the time we had and never even slightly rushed us to follow our daily plans. He has a tremendous amount of pride(and well deserved) in his job and especially his county and has a very deep love for his beautiful home city Aswan. Not to mention the knowledge on history and the little less known gems along the way. He took us to amazing places like the temple of Esna and Abydos which were especially shocking due to their beauty and we were no joke the only people there. He brought us from Luxor all the was through Abu Simble and we stopped everywhere along the way where we possibly could. We created an amazing bond with him as well as our driver Michael and can honestly say that we made great friends out of both of them. He helped really ease any unjustified stresses that the internet likes to give and really opened us up to adventure. We can't wait to go back to continue adventuring beautiful Egypt with hopefully the help of Sam and Egypt Sansimon Travel and Tourism.Written 3 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SandraFochville, South Africa2 contributionsWe were met at the airport and we were whisked off on an adventure through the busy Cairo streets with our guide entertaining us until we arrived at our destination at the perfume shop. After a courteous reception at the entrance, we were escorted into the heart of the perfume shop with Aladin type perfume bottles in different shapes and sizes and the most beautiful intricate wooden lace furniture inviting us to recline and being introduced to Egyptian hospitality with lovely fragrant teas. While delicately sipping on our teas we were introduced to the very high-quality local oil-based perfumes available in the shop. Selecting our favourite fragrance was quite exciting with easy payment by card. After this lovely interlude, we were whisked off timeously to our hotel dinner before embarking on our homeward trip back to South Africa. This was definitely the highlight of our long stay over before our last leg home. I am definitely planning on returning and next time I will do a trip down the Nile on a cruiser!!!Written 22 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- N K1 contributionWe were on a cruise and went to this spice shop while in Aswan. It was amazing. I brought back their "focus" tea and am hooked. I am trying to figure out how to order it so we can get more.Written 26 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
