- travelchica0New Jersey95 contributionsIf you have 5 minutes make sure you peek your head in! If you have an hour - its such a beautiful and unique church to explore. It was unlike any other church I have been in. I would consider this a must see!Written 7 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rtlnCalifornia132 contributionsThis site lacks the drama of the grand pyramid sites of Mesoamerica, but it illustrates the life in smaller villages and farms of the Mayan and post-Mayan civilizations. The pyramids in El Salvador are mostly buried. I found particularly interesting the layers and layers of ash that delineate the eruptions which continually interrupted the development of the towns in this area. Joya de Cerén is different from Pompeii, in that the people all fled before the volcano erupted. The only skeleton that was found was that of a duck.Written 26 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WhiteMouseBurrowMoscow, Russia2,343 contributionsAn impressive monumental building, it cannot be said that it is an architectural masterpiece, but it makes an impression. Unfortunately failed to get inside.Written 13 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- The World is My OysterOrlando, FL19,511 contributionsThis was definitely the spot to be at night, as there were so many restaurants and bars everywhere. The atmosphere was very cool, and it felt safe all around.Written 4 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff KPittsburgh, PA1,635 contributionsWe stopped here with our bilingual tour guide. We then had to take a tour with one of the Palace’s guide who only spoke Spanish but was translated by our guide. It worked out well although it would have been a waste without our tour guide translating.
The tour was a little long but we liked it. I would recommend if you’re nearby and speak Spanish or have someone with you who can translate.Written 25 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - The World is My OysterOrlando, FL19,511 contributionsReally neat design, with a Gothic look about it. Reminded me of some of the churches in Prague and Budapest. The inside is also really pretty with some great artwork. They also have the head of Jesus from a statue that crumpled down during their last major earthquake.Written 4 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LolaGo1Washington DC, DC5,820 contributionsIt was difficult. to walk to this church as both sides of the small street leading to to it have vendors selling their stuffs. In addition there are motor vehicles driving by plus carts of goods being pushed,
At the center of the altar is a statue of Jesus hanging up on a cross. There are two side altars with religious
statues. I soid my prayers here and braved my way back to my hotel.Written 15 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was around Christmas time when I visited so the decorations are related to Christmas. There are benches to sit down, take a break and just watch people go by.Written 14 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - The World is My OysterOrlando, FL19,511 contributionsWe drove by the monument but couldn't stop by as they were setting up for a Christmas event happening later that evening. Nonetheless, the monument is beautiful with Jesus sitting on top of the World.Written 4 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LolaGo1Washington DC, DC5,820 contributionsHaving walked for about an hour while visiting attractions at the city center, I took a short break here. There are benches to sit down and enjoy the moment.
The tall monument has a statue of an angel standing on the globe, statue of a lion, plus some inscriptions. Note that this plaza is located across from the Church of the Rosary or Iglesia del Rosario.Written 14 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It isn’t on the same level as the Recoleta in Buenos Aires but it’s definitely heading in that direction with some impressive family and individual vaults as well as highly decorated smaller ones.
It’s not a “must do” but it should be on your list if you have more than one full day in San SalvadorWritten 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The monument is several large plaques that have everyones name who was killed or die throughout these suffering times. Reminded me a bit of the 9/11 memorial in NYC.Written 4 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
