What travellers are saying
- travelchica0New Jersey95 contributionsIf you have 5 minutes make sure you peek your head in! If you have an hour - its such a beautiful and unique church to explore. It was unlike any other church I have been in. I would consider this a must see!Written 7 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nanci P2 contributionsEl Salvador is a lovely country. Because of its history, many might not consider traveling there. It has a lush, tropical vibe and the beaches are fabulous. Lots of nice restaurants too.Written 10 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- rtlnCalifornia132 contributionsThis site lacks the drama of the grand pyramid sites of Mesoamerica, but it illustrates the life in smaller villages and farms of the Mayan and post-Mayan civilizations. The pyramids in El Salvador are mostly buried. I found particularly interesting the layers and layers of ash that delineate the eruptions which continually interrupted the development of the towns in this area. Joya de Cerén is different from Pompeii, in that the people all fled before the volcano erupted. The only skeleton that was found was that of a duck.Written 26 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - The World is My OysterOrlando, FL19,511 contributionsThis was definitely the spot to be at night, as there were so many restaurants and bars everywhere. The atmosphere was very cool, and it felt safe all around.Written 4 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LifeOfDUGBotswanna209 contributionsYou never know when you book a tour through a company you find on the internet. But we could not have been more pleased with our 7 days in El Salvador.
I contacted Eduardo with Salvadorean Tours in November of 2022. We were staying in Antigua Guatemala for five weeks and thought a week in El Salvador would be fun before heading home.
Eduardo put a custom itinerary together for us. From being picked up in our rental home in Antigua Guatemala to being dropped off at the San Salvador Airport. Everything went like clock work.
We hiked volcanoes, learned how to make Pupusasa, went kayaking/birdwatching, learned about El Salvador’s history, rescued a turtle, and visited one of the most spectacular churches in the world. And that only touches a few highlights of the trip.
All the accommodations were perfect. The drivers and guides were accommodating to our needs.
We highly recommend Salvadorean Tours.Written 14 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tour in general is great; timing, guide, scenry, driver, car, suggested food, everything was perfect. The only issue was the communication with the tours manager, it was a bit slow through email, but they were flexible in adjusting the itinerary based in my needs.
Regarding the tour:
The hike was a bit steep and as they described, medium difficult. It ~5.6 miles total ~2380m elevation, I did it in one hour and 20 min up and an hour down. Views of the crater and Lago de Coatepeque lake and the valcano de izalco were amazing.
Guillermo, my guide was the best guide I ever had. He is informative, generous, snd passionate about what he does. He gave me a great background on El Salvador history during the walk. I never enjoyed a hike that much and time passed by without I feel it. He also was kind to stop whenever I needed to rest or take pictures. He answered everything I asked! He also helped me to get back to San Salvador fast, I appreciated the flexibility very much since I had limited time. In summary, the trip is great, and highly recommended!Written 17 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Prices are very affordable, the mixologists are international grade. The place is clean, spacious, comfortable and free of smoke.
The stage its awesome, gives bit a nostalgia for those acquainted with other Irish pubs and small theaters where great rock bands used to play in the 80's. If your visiting San Salvador and want to go out, sing your lungs out with your friends while having some good food and drinks, Republik should be included in your list of destinations.Written 27 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had the pleasure of meeting Raphael and his knowledge of the country is amazing!
We hired his services for transport to and from the airport, a trip to lake Coatepeque, Los Naranjos, and Ataco.
He was always on time, gave us excellent suggestions to visit, dine and shop! His large commercial van was comfortable and fit my family of 6! Raphael knew his way around the cities and best ways to avoid traffic!
I highly recommend this company for your transport needs in El Salvador! I will be using this service again on our next trip to the beautiful country of El Salvador!Written 16 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He has real personality and I enjoyed all the conversations. In English and in Spanish. The communication with the coordinator was a breeze in comparison to other tour companies who kept me waiting awhile for a response. Roberto was also amazing on the the ruta de las Flores hike. You spend half a day with someone walking / climbing around they end up feeling like family.Written 19 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elise N29 contributionsI spent three days with this family-owned and operated company - not only did they show me around safely, it felt like they were my family while traveling solo in El Salvador. No question, I'd recommend them 100% to anyone looking for any kind of tour in the county. They'll make it happen.Written 17 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Traveling BlackOakland, CA364 contributionsMac is simply amazing!! We had a short trip in SAL but he met us at the airport and helped maximize our time by taking us to a couple places during our layover before we had to head back to the airport. One of my trip-mates had used him before and he was spot on by recommending we go with Mac. Can't wait to return!!Written 29 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
