Shankaracharya temple is one of the most important places to visit in Srinagar. The temple is on the top of a hill and one has to climb around 280 stairs to reach the temple. It takes around 15-20 mins to reach top of the hill. The mail garbh grah has a large shiva lingam. The meditation cave of adi shankar acharya is also in the same premises. Entire srinagar city is visible from the top of the city. Must visit place in srinagar.

Dal Lake is almost the center of Srinagar. It is a large and beautiful lake. One can either stay at houseboats which are built in the lake (which I would not recommend), or take a shikara ride (boat ride). It is better to take a shikara ride for more than an hour, as one can also the enjoy the floating shops and market in the lake.

We were lucky enough to visit tulip garden, as it had opened during last day of our visit to Srinagar in March, 23. The garden is beautiful, large tulip flowers of different colours. One can only experience it, very difficult to describe. Must visit if you are in Srinagar at the right time.

Lovely, calm & clean premium houseboats on the other side of Dal Lake...however recently it is becoming a nuisance with over-crowding of holiday makers & too many motorboats on the lake

This is a lesser known place as compared to Gulmarg and Pehelgam but no less beautiful than the others. The name originates from a legend but means MILK flowing through STONES. It's 45 km from Srinagar and you can reach there easily by a taxi. From the parking you need to take a horse ride or another local taxi. You need to negotiate hard for the taxi ride. As you go towards highest point, you can enjoy the nature with vast open grazing grounds, green lawns and snow peak mountains in the surrounding. The scenery is as beautiful as in Scotland or in Austria or Switzerland. There are eateries where you can have your food. There are stay options as well which we don't explore. Highly recommended place.

Nishat Garden is one of the three beautiful gardens in Srinagar. It is across the dal lake. It is best to visit the garden during summer time to enjoy the flowers.

The day we planned to visit Sinthan top, it started raining so stayed at the JKTDC Daksum guesthouse which we had pre-booked. Next morning there was a landslide due to the rains but we waited and luckily it got cleared and we set out in our pre-booked vehicle. The road is not so good in some places because of the landslide, but after going a little head the roads get better. The scenery & view on the way is breathtaking. When we reached Sinthan top (1 hour drive from Daksum), we were the only tourists at this place and it was gorgeous and freezing cold, but worth the trip.
Note : Tourists need to be mindful not to litter (we were surprised to see quite a lot of litter here).

If you have traveled Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg you can skip this. But if you have a couple of days to spare do visit. Huge lush green landscapes with chinar trees in backdrop adds charm. Small streams of fresh water rings in nature’s music.

Shah-e-Hamadan Masjid was first built in 1395 AD in the memory of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani who brought Islam to Kashmir. The present structure is wooden and decorated with ornate chandeliers and paper machine embellishments.

It is proposed that more beautification is needed than these gardens as years ago the work was done . Now private party has been given the task of making it more attractive and sustainable. The garden definitely requires a modern touch but it's historic values should remain intact. A must see place for every tourist's Srinagar diary and album
