- Global173729300801 contributionWhat a fantastic experience with Pearly. We are a family of four, and had a morning and afternoon of fun and learning with Pearly. She has a welcoming and fun personality, and is so knowledgeable about food and cooking. She was also great with kids. Highly recommend!

We were a group of 4 which is a perfect size for walking and eating, and experiencing all the markets. Nazlina is very knowledgeable about all the foods we ate, as well as the herbs, spices and ingredients we bought to make the most amazing rendang, sambal and nasi lemak from scratch! She provides wonderful anecdotes and stories to give an understanding of the local and historical context of George Town. Thoroughly recommend this authentic experience! Thanks for a great morning, Nazlina.Written 21 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jim-GroggaMelbourne, Australia13 contributionsI recently participated in an authentic Malaysian street food cooking class with Khalid in Georgetown, and I have to say it was an incredible experience. The class was held in a cozy kitchen, and Khalid was a great host and instructor. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the different street food dishes we were learning to make. He was able to explain the history and cultural significance of each dish, which made the class even more interesting.
The class size was small, with only 4 of us participating, which allowed for plenty of individual attention and hands-on experience. Khalid provided all the necessary ingredients and equipment, and he walked us through each step of the cooking process. We made a variety of street food dishes, including Nasi lemak, char Kway teow and Randang. Each one was delicious and authentic.
The class was a lot of fun and it was great to learn from Khalid. He was very patient and made sure that everyone understood the techniques and methods used in each dish. We all left the class feeling confident in our ability to recreate these street food dishes at home. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to experience the taste and culture of street food, or who wants to improve their cooking skills.Written 13 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The views over Georgetown from Samuels studio were stunning. Our kids (aged 10 and 12) really liked making the Roti Canai. The number of fresh spices and herbs we used to make our chicken rendang was amazing. Samuel was also very accommodating to make an extra dish as my wife is vegetarian. We were then dropped back in Georgetown at the end, with a few suggestions on restaurants yo try for the remainder of our trip.Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Heli PHelsinki, Finland6,316 contributionsI had a relaxing coffee and cake moment browsing architectural literature in the small garden themed cafeteria among greenery and a fountain. The owner, an architect himself showed me more of the 1970's elegant interior with marble walls, wide staircase and seaview from the upper floor.Written 14 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robyn1 contributionFabulous way to spend an afternoon in Penang whether your young or old, working or retired. Painting materials, an apron, glass of wine and soul soothing music are provided. People always have fun as they release the inner artist from their childhood many saying “I haven’t painted since early school”. Everyone is encouraged and guided by both leaders, Kerwyn and Aaron who are very supportive. Very friendly and courteous service.Written 24 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- souluimalaysia3 contributionsWe recently found this small crafts store at Gurney Plaza Level 4. This has been a default stopover for kids after having lunch. They have sand art and window art paintings. It funny to see all kids looking into each other's artworks. Also great hospitalize and friendly from shop owner as well.Written 20 June 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steven W1 contributionMy daughter and I wanted to learn traditional Malaysian cooking. This cooking class was absolutely amazing, it started with a guided tour around the food markets learning about the history of the area and how food came into Malaysia. We cooked five courses including an amazing dessert.
Very friendly staff, with easy to learn recipes that were given to us as a downloadable PDF.
