What travellers are saying
- martin rLima, Peru61 contributionsThe place is easily reachable by taxi from George Town city center. Funicular goes up very fast. Views from the hill are incredible including peninsular Malaysia. You can go down walking or by the funicular. It is recommended to bring sunblock cream and a hat.Written 18 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sy3717Subang Jaya, Malaysia1,006 contributionsQuite an old building in sweet pink colour. It provides facilities for shipping and cruise passenger arrivals and departures to places like Langkawi. There are souvenir shops and Batik shops. Not many people during my visit, only passengers waiting to take off to Langkawi. Can be reached by taking free bus CAT for those who like to go for taking photos and look see,Written 11 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - yeo s1 contributionAs the solo traveller I use rapid penang for 90% of my journey travel in Penang Island.
Bus fare is consider very reasonable . The fare I paid per trip is within RM1.40 - RM4.00. Depending of the place u go.
Bus stop is within walking distance from most of the attraction place.
Punctuality of bus is consider ok, probably score 4/5. You may trace the bus information such as bus availability , bus location, bus estimate of arrival, bus delay informatiom through google map.
Bus driver is polite.
Have to prepare sufficient small notes and coin, as there is no change will be given back if u paid more. There is monthly bus pass available, however seem to be the pass mostly use by local people.Hopefully in the future, traveller are allowed to use credit/debit card, e-wallet and etc to pay for the fare, to enhance the convenient of traveller, as well as the efficiency of the bus operation.
Most of the bus condition is well maintain.Written 25 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guide, Eng Seong, picke us up at our hotel and showed us the itinerary. Of the best sights. My husband wanted to see the island and Eng gave us a totally personalized tour that accommodated my husband and also showed us many of the hidden gems that were not the usual fare. Eng spoke perfect English, was professional and knowledgeable and had a warm personality that we enjoyed interacting with. He also helped us to plan what we could do on our own. We had a great day with Eng and were thrilled with the personalized service.Written 3 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lslvipHong Kong, China7 contributionsTwo words sum up my experience with Happy Pearl- accommodating & enthusiastic.
From very beginning when I worked with Sugar on the agenda of the trip to when we spent the day with Mr. Kim, the driver, I found them very easy & patient to work with. With changes we made through out the planning and the day of the trip they always listened & carried out what we wanted. Consequently we had a wonderful day in Penang.

The price was fair (35 ringit), the scooter what you can reasonably expect at this price and the staff was friendly and efficient. There were zero problems at return and the deposit was returned without questions. I would recommend this place if you just want some inexpensive wheels without hassle for a couple days.
There's one old review on Tripadvisor complaining that he paid 10 ringit "too much" but that's really the customer's issue for not comparing prices rather than the shop's imho.Written 26 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bambooKKKota Kinabalu, Malaysia267 contributionsSpeedy Travel organized our company trip. Their tour guide Asmadi is friendly and helpful. We requested P Ramlee Museum the night before our departure, and he arranged it for us. Highly recommend him to you.
The Palace d India restaurant lunch was delicious. Other meals were okay.
Cititel Express Penang's room is not soundproof. You can hear your neighbour shower and other guests close their doors. The daily breakfast is too simple, just like any Kopitiam.
Overall, the tour package is the best value for money. The coach is clean and comfortable.Written 25 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
