- manish pKathmandu, Nepal78 contributionsView from the top was great… it gets crowded so better to go early.. you can walk around at the top but not too many things to doWritten 21 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HugenotUK521 contributionsA really interesting mansion. A fascinating insight into life in a huge wealthy busy household. The English tour is well worth doing, The guide takes you on a whistle-stop tour giving you an overview of the house and life within it. Then you can wander at your leisure afterwards. The interior is stunning and the jewellery section is incredible. We were lucky to see the owner's personal emerald/gold jewellery which was on display for christmas. Also, we were fascinated by the turquoise headdress and necklace which was actually kingfisher feathers fixed on with gold thread - stunning.

- S KSingapore, Singapore466 contributionsWe arrived just before 3.30 pm and was advised the guided tour is sold out. Not wanting to wait till 4.30 pm for the audio tour, we took the option of a high tea for 2 there. The high tea was good and allowed us the option of exploring the beautiful interiors of the Blue Mansion at our own pace. The hotel section was out of bounds. Relative to the Peranakan Mansion which is a lot bigger and visually more captivating, the same entrance fee ( with guided tour) at 25 myr per pax appeared high here. The high tea is reasonable at 88 myr for 2 pax ( Mon-Thurs) .Written 2 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 253SASingapore, Singapore3,518 contributionsThe Clan Jetties of Georgetown is a residential neighbourhood that is found within the city's business and historical district. There are seven wooden villages spread out along the the coastal road of Weld Quay, each owned by residents of a specific Chinese clan – Ong, Lim, Chew, Tan, Lee, Mixed Clan and Yeo. Amongst them, only the Chew Jetty is commercialised. Inside, you will find shops selling all manner of merchanise, food, drinks, trinkets, souvenirs and the works. Mixed in are the residential houses as well, so, as visitors, we need to remind ourselves to respect their privacy. The view of the sea when you reach the end will be quite a treat.Written 31 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DavidjellisLowestoft, UK9,498 contributionsMy wife and I visited on a cruise ship excursion and we had just under an hour here to enjoy the pretty surroundings. It's an easy walk and fairly flat. There are many interesting plants and trees to see, and our guide explained that the gardens were mainly known for its trees and plants, in contrast to botanical gardens elsewhere that focused on flowers.
There are wild macaque monkeys here...just don't go too near or wave any bags around as they will try to grab the bag on the premise there might be food inside. We loved the fascinating cannon ball trees, the cannon balls are really odd plants that apparently smell rotten on the inside. We could have easily spent longer here but we were on a tight timetable.
The gardens are located at Jalan Kebun Bunga and it is Malaysia’s only botanic gardens. There are many ferns and cactus houses too, including some rare species.
The Botanic Gardens is open every day from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m and there is parking available.Written 30 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was so interesting to see all the different dishes along with some challenging examples of colour-less food or other quirky exhibits. Be warned that they do not take cards, only the Malaysian QR code or cash but there is a bank ATM next door.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - leahjaneteeGreater Adelaide, Australia34 contributionsA fun way to spend an hour whilst in Penang. Lots of rooms for photo opportunities. The staff were very organised and efficient. The experience was a little rushed, but we still had enough time in each room to have some fun and laughs.Written 4 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 253SASingapore, Singapore3,518 contributionsOur hotel (St Giles Wembley Penang) had a 15% discount for tickets at The Top, which, if you compare with the prices offered by online tour sites, is a bargain.
We bought the basic package, which consists entry to the Rainbow Skywalk, the Observatory Deck and the Skybridge. The published price is RM78 per person, but with the discount, we only paid RM66.30. As for the other attractions, I suggest you do your prior research before committing. Reviews of the Jurassic Dinosaur Park and the Aquarium tended to lean towards target audience of very young children, and ours were way past that age.
After getting your tickets, the first stop will be a room on the 65th floor where you will be treated to a short video highlighting the history of the Komtar building. Once that is over, the screen will pull back to reveal a glorious view of all of Georgetown. Then, the side door will open, and you will find yourself in the Observatory Deck. Two of the highlights of this floor are the glass floor where you can have a vertigo-inducing view of Jalan Magazine below you, and, the heart-pounding Skybridge, where you will wear a harness and lead by an instructor to walk on a designated walkway outside of the building. Yes, outside the building, I kid you not.
When you have settled your nerves after completing that thrill walk, proceed to take the lift up to the very top of Komtar on the 68th floor. The third and final item of your ticket will be the short but no less invigorating Rainbow Skywalk, a curved walkway made entirely of glass. When you are done with that, you can finally settle down and soak in the almost 360 degrees panoramic view of all of Georgetown. If there is one corner which I suggest to pay attention, it will be view of the clan jetties. Seeing all those heritage houses below you, and the platforms of the Tan and Lee jetties will be a rewarding visual experience.Written 30 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Although the place in general is quite dead, there are still some nice boutiques with good prices. Food court serves quality fast meals with dirt cheap price. - Jay R1 contributionMy experience with Pearly's cooking class was absolutely fantastic! We made a delicious selection of dishes, including stir-fried spicy prawns, chicken kapitan, and char chap chye, all of which turned out amazing. Pearly sends you a wide range of dishes to choose from beforehand, so you can cook exactly what you’re excited to learn.
The market tour was a wonderful addition to the experience—it was fascinating to see all the fresh vegetables and ingredients, and we even got to try some tasty street food, all included in the price. Pearly is an excellent teacher, and her knowledge and passion for cooking really shines through. The food was incredibly tasty, and I can’t recommend this experience enough!Written 30 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
