- cb1002014Lowestoft, UK143 contributionsWe really enjoyed our day on the pontoon. Taken by boat ( pretty choppy!) in the morning, we stayed until 3.30. We tried sea walking - great experience and beautiful fish. Suitable for non swimmers as they take you down very slowly. We also snorkelled off the reef . They provide lunch and offer various other activities, scuba, banana boat, paraglide etc but there's no pressure to do anything. Make sure you see the massive giant Gruper which they rescued from a restaurant and keep it to show tourists how these fish grow in the wild and to encourage them not to order wild fish in the restaurants.Written 10 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - charmaineLondon, UK32 contributionsWe wanted to visit Sabah with some family and since we were not familiar with the area, we decided to get help from a local tour agency - Amazing Borneo.
The agent that helped with the booking was Anthony Wong. I found him very communicative and helpful. He was able to cater for customisations that we wanted whilst also fitting us into other tour programmes.
When it finally came round to our trip a couple of weeks back, we were glad that the Amazing Borneo team were at hand. We had delays and constant "retiming" of flights but the team adjusted accordingly and Anthony or someone from the operations team was available to help.
In terms of the programme, the Sandakan portion was a real hit with everyone - especially the Selingan Turtle island. I thoroughly recommend it and our guide Azman/Man was brilliant. We also found our guides at the Bilit Rainforest Lodge and in KK, John and William excellent too.
All in all, we had an incredible time thanks for the team who made sure that everything went smoothly, including ensuring that any dietary requirements were catered for the whole time. Excellent job, Anthony & team!Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The whole team were so helpful and kind, spent so much time with us giving us tips and advice for our trip to Mount Kinabalu.
Could not recommend them enough - personalised service that actually cares about you, different from other vehicle rental we had contact with in KK.
Worth messaging first though, as they are not at the location Google maps sent us to anymore (behind Gaya Hotel)!Written 30 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Right from the start, answering questions, the booking process, and the tour was just magical.
We added turtle island onto the jungle lodge, and it was well worth it.
Never expected to see so many turtles.
In the jungle we saw the big Borneo 5 over the 3 days…and really close up.
All the staff were very knowledgeable. We went with our 8&9 year olds and the whole family loved the experience.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lee891 contributionI booked the 3d2n tour with Borneo calling few months back and submitted the mountain on 9th September 2024. The process was extremely smooth, from booking the trip all the way to the end of the trip.
A huge shoutout to all the people who made the journey a pleasant one, the back-end staff, the drivers, the Brave Mountain guides and porters, none of it would have been possible without them.
Thank you Borneo Calling for the wonderful experience!Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The timings and location we were given for departure to Gaya Island were all clear and accurate. The base camp is clean and beautiful. Our dive instructor really made the whole day very enjoyable - a big thank you to Jeson. All the staff were very friendly and approachable. Lunch served was great and the dive was good fun. We loved it and would highly recommend down below!Written 21 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chantal H7 contributionsWe did the 3N4D cruise which included Turtle Island the first day/night followed by Hornbill Lodge. From the initial booking River Junkie has been amazing. Pick up, payment and communication perfect. The experience was unforgettable. Turtle Island is a must do experience to learn about the conservation of the turtles. Erdy was our guide from the start and did all our river trips searching relentlessly for all the animals. We even got to see an elephant crossing the river and the orangutans roaming free on the last day at the Rain Forest centre. Hornbill Lodge was utterly magical. The food, accommodation, hospitality is first class. Our driver Ramil couldn’t do enough. Thank you Erdy and the whole of River Junkie for such a memorable experience. - Go619087053211 contributionI signed up for the 2D1N Mini Adventure and had a blast with Christian and Flo.
Christian is an excellent guide who is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Sabah. Personally, I thought the ride itself was a little challenging (I over-estimated my ability). Still, Christian and Flo made sure I was well-supported throughout the ride and made things fun. I also learned a lot about handling more challenging terrains and techniques I could only learn in the countryside.
The trek through the Borneo jungle and homestay was fabulous, with an excellent host and delicious food!
I would recommend this for anyone who wants to experience the outdoors away from tourists, meet friendly locals, experience beautiful scenery and enjoy the company of knowledgeable and awesome guides!
I will definitely come back with more people!Written 9 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daniel2 contributionsI did the 'walk the torque' via ferrata. It was great fun. I really think anyone that is modestly fit can handle it. In addition, if you are not afraid of heights yoo should consider the more advanced 'lows peak' via ferrata as I regret not doing that. 'Walk the Torque' is very much introductory. I was travelling solo but it was fine and I made some friends in my team.Written 25 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Soeren G17 contributionsFantastic team. Lilly was very entertaining and took good care of and educated the more inexperienced people in our group. Had three excellent dives and saw sea horse, reef shark, snail and eagle raw. And lots of fish.Written 22 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Radu PCluj-Napoca, Romania2 contributionsNot sure how anyone can give less than 5 stars for this experience. We did the 4D3N trip in Deramakot with Rajis and his trusted driver/ companion Mich and it was beyond our expectations.
Rajis is a one-man-encyclopedia of everything you need to know about Malaysia and Borneo, from zoology and botany (of course) to history, politics and geography. It is a pleasure to speak to him about any subject and to hear him share interesting facts about nature and history.
He went above and beyond in trying to find and show us wildlife in Deramakot, even though weather conditions were not necessarily ideal. Nonetheless we had the pleasure of seeing a mother Orangutan with her cute baby, flying squirrels, spiders, monitor lizards, eagles, hornbills, etc.
Being an avid watcher of Animal Planet and National Geographic documentaries as a kid it was a dream come true to actually experience those in real life.
We also met Con, the guide of another group during our trip who also seemed like a genuine cool and very knowledgeable guy.
I cannot recommend this company enough, do not hesitate to book your trips with them!Written 10 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
