When you leave the city area of Kuching and venture into the countryside you are met with the imposing landmark of Mt Santubong. While we did not hike to the top we were impressed by the low cloud over the peak.

Took me about 2 hours to get to the summit but I'm sure seasoned hikers would take probably around 1 hour 45 minutes or maybe less. There are apparently 4 trails to choose from so you might wanna plan your time wisely if you'd like to get the full experience. I barely saw any wildlife other than a few types of lizards and snakes but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. Might come back in the future to try the other trails. "Life is like a mountain. Hard to climb, but once you get to the top, the view is beautiful."

My husband and I booked the Discovery Kayaking tour. We were picked up from our hotel in Kuching and our driver made conversation with us as we were driven through the beautiful countryside to the kayaking spot. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by our guides McQueen and Mardi. McQueen gave a humorous but comprehensive safety briefing before we set out on the river. We are experienced kayakers, but this tour would be suitable even for beginners. The river is calm and peaceful with only a few areas of gentle rapids. We both weigh over 100 kilos, but a double kayak was able to accommodate us. However, due to our size and being older people with back problems, a sit-on-top kayak is not the most comfortable ride for us. This at times made it difficult for us to shift position while sitting in the kayak. At one point, we went through some gentle rapids and we were not able to keep up with the paddling, which caused us to capsize. McQueen and Mardi immediately came to our rescue and quickly assisted us with getting back into the kayak, so no harm was caused except to our egos for our embarrassment at tipping over.

Other than that, we enjoyed the lovely scenery of the tour, which includes a stop at a small waterfall as well as a stop to feed fish in the river. The water was the perfect temperature to cool down in. McQueen and Mardi took photos of all of us during the trip so that we were able to relax and focus on the scenery. After kayaking for 10 kilometers, we reached Semadang's base camp, where full changing and shower facilities are available. We were treated to an excellent lunch of local dishes prepared by David and Vivian. There were plenty of vegetarian options available. It was honestly the best food we had on our trip to Borneo. The photos taken during the tour were sent to us via email and we were driven back to our hotel. Everything was planned perfectly, and throughout the day, all of Semadang's staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed chatting with the staff, who are clearly very passionate about their work and sharing the river with their customers. Many thanks to the Semandang team for a memorable experience!

The tour (3N/4D wildlife) was simply incredible! Your guide Abbas did an amazing job to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. He provided so much knowledge about the region, the animals and Borneo in general. The lodges we stayed at were all great, clean, and the people working there were also fantastic. Every single activity was always starting on time and it was very smooth to go through the different locations. I cannot recommend this tour enough!

A day out with James exploring the little visited sites of rural and wild Sarawak is the most fun, exciting and most of all, informative adventure Kuching has to offer. We were guided through local markets and tried bird nests soup. We ate the most delicious lunch at a friendly local family home. Then we explored caves, examined skulls in a remote village and hiked through the jungle to the boarder of Indonesia. The tour covers an incredible amount of time and space and James knows every detail of the past and recent history.

I have just returned from the Jungle sisters Borneo adventures and what a fabulous time I've had. Alison's knowledge of the culture, food, places to see and her passion for sharing made this trip all the more memorable. we saw and did so much in the two weeks and I return home feeling very privileged to have seen what I had seen and experienced what I have. The jungle trek and the monkey bridge being two if my personal challenges that I achieved. so many people said, "I would love to do that". Anything is possible if you really set your mind to achieving it. I saved for over a year to go on this trip and it was worth so much more than money. Life is too short to have regrets, this tour will be the best experience that you will ever have in appreciating the beautiful natural world and how we must take care of our environment today so that others can see the sights, sounds and natural beauty. My wish is that my grandchildren will one day make this trip to see and experience what their Nona has. An experience of a lifetime.
