Nice pano view from the top which viewing is sloped to allow everyone access to the views and not just those at the railing. Activities include a wall from which you drop paper cranes, a sloping walkway down with murals and an indoor slide from floor to floor.

The Peace Flame is located in Peace Memorial park and has been continuously burning since 1964 and will continue to burn until there are no nuclear weapons left in the world. We spent a few minutes looking at the flame but more time in the Peace Memorial Park area because there a lots of interesting items to see. Plan to spend a few hours in the area if you have an interest as there are a number of peace related exhibits in the area. The Peace Flame is located in the northern part of the Peace Memorial Park and the area is very walkable.

The top floor of this building has an okonomiyaki "theme park," basically a food court style area with lots of stands selling okonomiyaki. Each restaurant has a wrap-around grill area where they cook and serve the okonomiyaki. We chose the first restaurant we came to with open seats available, and it was quick and delicious.

I took my time to walk from my hotel to the HP Memorial Park to be familiar with the neighborhoods of the city. I passed by malls, shopping areas, restaurants, apartment buildings, etc.
I took a break at the Starbucks and asked for direction to the Park.

The boulevard is wide, there are pavements for pedestrians to walk and use here. From the Starbucks, it took me another 7 minutes to reach the park.

Perhaps because it was not part of the original design for the park it does seem to be out of place with the other elements in the park. But, the twisted element in such close proximity to the atomic bomb dome seems to work at the northern end.

I did not hear the chime at 0815 but it is apparently wirthwhile if you can get the timing right. 0815 is the time of the explosion.

Like many of the beautiful statues and monuments in Hiroshima Peace Park, this lovely fountain is a very fitting tribute to those who lost their lives here in the Atomic Bomb detonation of 1945.
It represents hope and prayer that no such event will never happen again.

Unique experience where you get to see owls in close contact in a safe environment. You get to have unlimited drinks from a vending machine and a chance to hold an owl of your choice on your arm. As other reviewers have mentioned, despite this being a unique experience, you may have certain queries regarding the conditions of the owls, given, although they are properly fed, they are chained from doing any flying and are kept from their nocturnal lifestyle. But overall still a unique experience and one can only hope the owls get adopted/bought out soon.

Worth stopping by! Read the sign. Tree survived the bomb blast and was moved nearer to the hypocenter in the 70s.

The Peace Memorial Park where the Pond of Peace can be found is full of memorials and peace monuments. It is worth spending a few hours here for those that are interested and this was just a quick stop in a very calm and peaceful area. The park is quite walkable and we would recommend wearing a good and comfortable pair of shoes.

On one end of the pond is the Cenotaph for the Victims of the Atomic Bomb which is the roof like structure to provide shelter to the souls of the victims and the other end has the Peace Flame which will burn until all nuclear weapons in the world are destroyed.

A pleasant bridge, and pedestrian friendly. A reasonably nice way to make your way in or out of the park. Pretty enough that I stopped to take a picture.

You pass it when you’re on the shopping street but it’s a bit dirty and nothing there. Definitely don’t go out of your way to find it
