If visiting KL, don't miss out on this great cooking experience.

I done my research on different cooking classes in KL, and this was by far the best value for money and the most personal.

I have done a few cooking classes in different parts of the world, but this one was the best. Fizah made us feel so welcome and her knowledge about traditional Malaysian cooking was fantastic. Our whole day start to finish felt so fun and effortless. It felt like a home stay, as well as a cooking class. Fizah and her Partner opened up their home to us and made us feel most welcome.

We travelled from the bukit bintang area to her home by one simple train ride and a 10 min walk from there, but if you get a "Grab" (uber) it's also very cheap and convenient too.

We started with Fizah Taking us for a local traditional Breakfast, which was so yummy. She explained all the flavours and ingredients as we ate. We then proceeded to the local markets, which was indoors thankfully, as it was rainy season.

We went round the whole market learning all different and exciting ingredients used in Malaysia.

After that we headed to Fizah where we were greeted by her adorable cats.

The cooking class flowed so easy and effortlessly, that it almost felt like we were round a friends helping them cook, accept we were the ones learning all the tricks and skills and creating the dishes ourselves. I really did learn a lot about the dishes we created.

We picked the couples course, and cooked the Curry Laksa for main, then the Kuih gula melaka for dessert.

Both tasted phenomenal, we most definitely will be recreating those dishes when we return home, using the PDF recipes she sent us afterwards.

Also as a added bonus, Fizah took some beautiful pics and vids of us cooking together.

It's an experience and memory that will last a lifetime, and was most definitely our highlight of our trip to Malaysia. We can't recommend more.

    Thank you Fizah.

After a delicious breakfast, Doreen took us around the market and showed us ingredients used in Malaysian cooking. It was extremely interesting and engaging. I almost skipped this bit as I’ve done a few similar market tours in Asia, but I’m so glad I went. This was the best by a very long way.

Next, we did the cooking class with Sadiaah. Not only was the cooking class itself fantastic, Saadiah taught us lots about her culture and shared stories from her family life. I can’t thank Saadiah enough for her motherly wisdom, which I found so helpful and still think about. She is a very special person and it was a pleasure to meet and learn from her that day.

My husband, mother in law, father in law, and I did a market tour and cooking class with Sara and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wet market was a must do and we were able to see typical ingredients used in Malaysian dishes and also learn the history of these dishes. We had a light breakfast consisting of an assortment of foods we’d seen earlier at the wet market. Then we learnt about various herbs and even collected some in the garden in preparation for our cooking.

We cooked char koay teow (fried flat rice noodles), char siu pork (roasted caramelised pork), kerabu kacang botol (four angled beans salad), sago gula melaka (sago pudding with coconut milk and palm sugar) and teh tarik (pulled tea). We loved everything we cooked and will make these recipes again at home, especially the char siu pork.

Sara was very patient with us and the class ran smoothly but also felt personalised as we cooked in her family home. We all had a lot of fun. I would do another cooking class again to learn to cook new Malaysian dishes and would definitely recommend to others.
