For a measly 5RM for foreigners, this is a great place to visit. All the placards and labels are translated into English, for one. I learned a great bit on the ancient, premodern and modern history of Malaysia and it was very cool to see so many young people inside a museum! I spent a little over an hour here.

There are also two cultural galleries outside the main national museum entrance, with a combined 5 RM for each, so also went to those. Those are much smaller and easier to speed through but I enjoyed seeing traditional woodcarving, handicrafts and weapons, whilst also learning about Malaysian tribes.

    I definitely recommend.

Part of the governement subsidied Craft Complex now in the middle of a huge construction site the museum is waiting for a new display in February. Judging from the previous it isn't much to expect, this is a very oldfashioned establishment. There is a textile museum at the corner of Merdeka square in central KL showing more of the local craft techniques.

The headquarter of National Archives is located in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim (was known as Jalan Duta) and near to the new Istana Negara. Visitors are allowed to visit the National Archives if they would like to get some information or data on Malaysia's history.

For such an interesting subject in the middle of the capital city I would have expected more. However, if you are in the area it is probably worth a short visit, just don't expect too much. The exhibits are interesting although not displayed in great detail.
