Eltz Manor is an 18th century Baroque palace that was heavily damaged in the 1991 war. It has been restored and is now the Vukovar City Museum. Worth a visit -- inside and out.

An impressive and sad landmark. However, it is still carrying hope as the information displayed inside is showing the re-birth of a city destroyed by war. The views from the top of the tower are amazing.

It is quiet schocking to see all those tombs all with the same month of death in October / November 1991

Our tour took us to this church. The Serbs all but levelled it during the war starting in 1991. Only the walls were left standing and a plan to us explosives to bring them down as well was thwarted. Using architects drawings, the building was beautifully restored, except for one wall as a reminder. The altars are beautiful and a short concert we heard they showed the beautiful acoustics of the church.

After paying 60 hrk for 2 seniors and using the clean restrooms, we proceeded up the slow ramp that zig zags up through the museum. It climbs the Danube bluff where this culture lived in dense settlements of thatch covered ~ 500 sq. ft. “daub and wattle” huts. The archaeological finds are displayed or recreated to show how these 5’ 1” women and 5’4” men lived their lives by fishing, raising grain and cattle, making pottery, hide footwear, even copper axes, all predating the Greeks.
Excellent museum with plenty of English for 1-2 hours.

An amazing place, with a lot of military equipment, including guns, tanks, military trucks, airplanes, etc. Free entrance and a large field to wonder around.

We were here as part of a tour group.
The whole story is that your heart breaks...
During the Homeland War in Croatia, as I was born in Zagreb and live here...we watched reports of the hospital and the attacks on Vukovar on television. But when you come in Vukovar ... and you see all this with your own eyes, even though they are presented with dolls ... it's frightening and sad.
    Worth visiting!

This building on the corner of the town centre has been left as a stark reminder of the War in 1991..

Walking along the Danube River the old town acquires a magical charm and the river looks beautiful, particularly at day's end.

Nice part of Vukovar, with interesting buildings and the typical baroque arches. Good for a walk as it is close to other touristic attractions.

Our island on the Danube offers you great fun and relaxation. The beach is sandy. Every year, the sport fishing association takes care of the island. The season ticket is 40 kuna. You can also camp on the island.
