- Erica H.6 contributionsWe spent an amazing 4 days in the desert with Loly and his colleague Mohamed "Friday"! Firstly, the Black and White Deserts are natural wonders, and you haven't truly seen Egypt until you've been there and slept under the stars. With Egypt Western Desert Tours, our experience was safe, comfortable, and a real highlight of our trip through Egypt. Our desert tour started in Cairo, went through the desert, via Dakhla oasis, and finally ended in Luxor. My children will tell you that the food was delicious, sand dunes are epic fun, and it was so neat to see Friday's friends the desert foxes up close! We really felt like we were exploring off the beaten path. We enjoyed being the only tourists in the old Islamic city in Dakhla, and everyone we met was incredibly nice and friendly. If you are planning to visit Egypt, I highly recommend you contact Loly Gamal!Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alyona S8 contributionsWonderful trip. We saw bright spots in the desert: stones that resembled a hare, mushrooms, an upside-down foot and, of course, we enjoyed great panoramas. We traveled in comfortable cars, slept in a tent camp, which the guides set up for us, ate a delicious dinner they prepared in the desert. Saw the brightest sky full of stars at night. It’s great that the guides always monitored the cleanliness and did not leave a single package in the desert, taking the garbage with them. Thanks to it, we can enjoy untouched nature as it is.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sanjib Kumar DeKolkata (Calcutta), India6 contributionsKhaled took us on a fantastic 4 days 3 nights tour through the western desert. Khaled suggested a trip to Abu Maharik Sand Dunes and Djara Cave. We travelled through this breathtaking landscapes with two land cruisers. We were picked up from Cairo Airport. we camped in the desert for two nights. We were served fresh and delicious foods 3 times a day. The breakfast was superb. We were introduced with various kinds of fossils and stones. The Djara cave was magical with stalactites and painting from stone age. Every evening ,the milky way cast a spell on us. We have decided to tour with them again. The Chef was amazing. Thank you for such an amazing experience!Written 23 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Irina M1 contributionWe had a great experience with Mohamed. Though we had not much time, but we managed to visit all the spots we were interested in, both in White and Black deserts.
Mohamed was very attentive during our stay in the camp at night - everything was prepared nicely and fast.
we also had some free time left during the day and Mohamed drove us to the hot and cold springs - to relax a bit.
Thanks, it was a great time and great memories!Written 27 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We’re amazed by the surreal scenery and the variety of landscapes in the area. Stargazing at night was incredible.
And Mohammed is the best tour guide, chef and photographer all in one. He grew up in this area, was passionate about his work, and spoke excellent English. He made a great dinner right in the middle of the desert, which was one of the best food I’ve had in Egypt! He helped us to take so many amazing pictures too. Ahmed, the driver who drove us from and back to Cairo, was professional and friendly as well.
It’s a 4 to 5-hour drive from Cairo to the staring point of the tour, but in the end I think it’s all worth it. Don’t miss it if you’re coming to Egypt!Written 8 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The white desert is pretty, the black desert too. The night in the desert was truly spectacular. I had never seen so many stars. Thank you very much for allowing us this incredible experience. We will repeat!Written 4 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SMullerAubonne, Switzerland11 contributionsWe are a family of four with 2 teenagers and did a 2 days tour in the desert with Hamada. We strongly recommend anyone to make this tour part of their stay in Egypt as the landscapes were totally out of this world!Hamada is very friendly, reliable and knowledgeable about the desert and Bedouins’ life. Everything was organized from our pick up in Cairo to the return on the following day. After a delicious lunch at Hamada’s house, we left for the black desert and crystal mountains, and some fun rides on the sand dunes. The campement in the white desert is absolutely amazing, and the sunset quite unique. After a diner and tea around the fire with traditional songs, we set up the mattresses in the desert to stargaze in complete silence… A very special moment for us all. Hamada, thank you so much again for this beautiful experience. It was not just a trip you offered us but lifetime memories we will forever cherish in our hearts… The Müller familyWritten 12 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adam H1 contributionMy partner and I had the pleasure to be taken to camp a night in the white desert.
We've been pickup up from the hostel in the area at the late morning and taken to a lovely tent to eat with other campers and socialize before going on the road. Our guide took us through wonderful landscapes and different experiences. He was friendly and patient. So many breathtaking sceneries in this journey. We've been given our own tent, saw the sun setting into the white desert, as well as the sunrise. Amazing. Fantastic food has been cooked and served to us, inclusive in the price. We thank Mohamed and his associates for this wonderful experience!Written 23 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent 3 days and 2 nights - one in a large n well-equipped tent in the desert, and the other in an hotel where the room had a balcony with a breathtaking view over a forest of palm trees as far as the eye could see!
Regarding the trip in the deserts itself, it followed well-known routes where we came across other cars, but I suppose the timeline was too short to consider venturing off the beaten track. Yet, we experiment incredible, diversified and magical landscapes
The food was excellent, thanks to Ahmed, an English speaking guide who is a discreet person and went out of his way to ensure our experience.
We were allowed to stay longer at sites so we could get a feel for the place, rather than just taking a photo and going.

- Daydream499649773492 contributionsI recently went on a 2 days tour to the black and white desert and it was an experience I will never forget! Our guides Islam and Mohamed were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire journey! We had a blast during our 4x4 ride and we even got to try sandboarding. The sunset over the desert was simply amazing. The camping spot was perfectly chosen and the dinner was delicious! After dinner we went for a moonwalk… what a precious moment! We slept under the stars which was definitely one of the highlights of the tour!
