We travelled with Cataferry from Tioman to Mersing with them and they were punctual, comfortable and clean. We were in the Premium cabin which is at the top of the boat. The cabin was luxurious - large, reclining leather arm chairs with foot rests. If you are tall, avoid 1A and 1F as they have a pillar that restricts legroom. The views s from the premium cabin were great too from rows 1 and 2 for seats A, B, E and F. Row 3 has restricted views as there are no windows there, but they are still very comfortable.
Having experienced both ferry companies that travel to and from Tioman, we would recommend paying the extra and going with Cataferry.

Stumbled upon this while exploring the vicinity and we were lucky to know that 5 turtles hatched that night and we were so grateful to be invited to help release them to into the sea!

Hiked to Turtle Bay, then on to Monkey Bay from end of path at ABC Bay. The hike is not that difficult but you will be climbing over large rocks along a trail that is not well maintained. Carry lots of water. Don't think I've ever sweated so much before. Monkeys blocked our path at one point, with large male baring teeth, which is way of showing aggression, not smiling or yawning. Good introduction to jungle. Allow at least 1 hour each way. Monkey Bay has great sandy beach but has lots of trash, especially at high tide line and around abandoned buildings. I would recommend coming here by boat, much easier than hike.

We were brought to the island for our fun dive.
Once we got underwater, I was awed by the corals and the fish, especially for a newbie like me!

I had enjoyed the time underwater. We were able to see a lot of fish.

I think I would like to go back there again - very good for beginner scuba divers like me!

As the only accomodation option here is the derelict Panuba inn, staying here is not a good choice. Stay at ABC instead.

This waterfall is located at Juara, Tioman Island. It requires some hiking before you can reach the waterfall. The way to waterfall can be scary because you journey will be covered by thick jungle but definitely it will be exciting too. We hiked early in the morning so that it will be not too sunny.

Professional Dive centre (accommodation, dive arrangements, equipment etc) and our instructor (Mok) is very skilled and clear with his teaching . I felt well guided and know what to expect in the course and be confidents as I developed each skill.
It has a cool dive community there to experience different adventurous individuals.
Tioman island may not have the best underwater visibility at this time of the year, but for beginners to learn the foundations and get confident on skill sets , Tioman island( and its islets) has offered much more in my opinion.

This is a pretty little Bar right next to the Dive Centre. We were there for a few nights diving and it was just nice having the Bar as part of their complex. Relaxing place after a dive.
B&J is a very professional center and this is just a part of it. Really nice display of optics behind the small bar, just sorry I did not get a photo. Will next time!!

We chose to do some trial dives in August with Blue Heaven Divers after reading good reviews and were very happy we went with them.
The day before we had our safety briefing and some instruction on how to dive plus things like how to clear your mask, how to find the regulator if it is kicked out of your mouth and how to descend safely.
Our instructor, Ian, was very patient and made sure we were competent in the shallow water at the beach in front of their dive school.
Our 2 dives the following day were fantastic. We first went to Coral Island for a 45 minute dive. We saw lots of different fish including a stingray and watched a hawksbill turtle as it swam around and fed on the coral. The second dive was also 45 minutes - this one was at Malang Rock. Here, again, we saw lots of fish and also a cuttlefish.
Our instructor kept a very close eye on us to make sure we were ok and “steered” us with our tanks to were we needed to go.
We would highly recommend Blue Heaven Divers.
One note that is not connected to our review of the responsible dive company we went with - we saw snorkelling groups feeding the fish - if you go snorkelling, please do not feed the fish as it gradually kills the reef. If you feed the fish, they will not eat the algae that grows on the coral. Without the fish eating the algae, the coral will die and the whole ecosystem will be wiped out. If your tour guide offers food for the fish, please refuse it and tell them why - it is the only way it will stop.
