- Angie CMalaysia86 contributionsI never understood why anyone would find cave tours boring. Pictures really don't do them justice - you need to experience them yourselves. I always thought I'd be disinterested, but this is the third time I'm visiting any kind of caves and I still find them so fascinating. Mulu Caves are even better with their sheer size, I cannot be more amazed! From the bat exodus of the Deer Cave to the underground river in the Clearwater Cave, I really have nothing bad to say about them. Book the tours with the park itself, it's cheaper and the guides are super friendly!Written 13 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - myflofloMalaysia98 contributionsIt was an easy walk to the caves as it was not raining when I visited the caves. The walkway was clean. Take a slow walk to enjoy the scenery of the jungle. There are a few wooden huts along the way where one can take a short rest, after a long walk. As there there many visitors during my visit there, the walk was enjoyable as you see visitors walking to and back from the caves.Written 26 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Walk through the forest to the many caves within. Explore the multiple caves available with an easy walk through the forest on its boardwalk or you can get a guide to get you on the trails. With mini falls and event views from peaks. There is even a river boat ride to travel down. Get to know people and if your lucky, visit a village that is link by the river.Written 5 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And please be aware that this is strictly suitable for jungle trekking purposes, especially for those with some hiking experience to ensure a pleasant hike. There are some parts on the Pantu Trial that was very steep that requires a bit of stamina and since the path wasn't very well-maintained, a pair of shoes with good traction is highly recommended. We were quite disappointed that we weren't able to access the waterfall but it was still nice to be able to see it along the hike.Written 27 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Keith Yeo1 contributionI travel from Miri to Gua Niah takes about 1 hour 30 minutes drive. When reach, 1st go to the Counter on the left of the entrance to buy admission ticket. After that, move to the Jetty on the right house (got toilet) and follow the sign board to take the board cross the river (just opposite - cost RM1/way). When arrived, you can 1st go to visit the Galley to understand the story before you enter to the Cave. Once done, you may start to walk the thru the bridge (it take at least +/- 30mins) to reach the rest area before you enter to the cave (got toilet, sell drinks, snacks & souvenir). Recommend go to toilet before next move. when you reach the Cave, please look at the sign board on your left and start your journey (recommend don't start from the staircase). When reach the T-Junction, go straight if you want to explore more to the Paint Cave, if not, can choose to turn right which down from the staircase).
Please remember to wear at least sport shoes and light clothes also bring head light + touch light as inside the cave is very dark and slippery. Getting there takes some effort but that is part of the fun... small plane, 4WD, longboat upriver. The guides and family I stayed with made this an unforgettable experience with their stories and their bushcraft skills are amazing. I went into the forest for four days looking at distant mountain ranges, seeing some of the remnant big trees that have not been cut down in other parts of Sarawak and generally living off the land. This is a great opportunity to experience another way of life in a small way while also supporting local people in the way they want to craft their lives.Written 17 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. During our last trip to Miri, Michelle and I were often recommended to visit Canada Hill, a limestone ridge with an amazing view of Miri City. Directly being in sight, overlooking our window from Pullman Miri Waterfront, one could hike up Canada Hill, or take a Grab up.
-enjoy amazing views of Miri City from Canada Hill. Watch the city light up as the skies darken.
-visit the 'Grand Old Lady', also known as Well No.1 as it was the first oil well in the country.
-stroll through the Petroleum Science Museum, which educates on the prominence of the oil and gas industry in Miri's earlier days
We arrived late at Canada Hill, when it was nearly dark.
