We had a great experience on Marlin del Rey III . The catamaran was not overbooked, so there was plenty of room to move around, the bartenders and rest of the staff were friendly and efficient, so there was never a wait for one’s next beverage or for some 2nd’s with the food choices.

We actually saw 2 different sightings of whales breaching the waters, water spouts, large tales and all. It was my birthday and one of the other passengers actually took a picture of my wife and I kissing with the sunsetting into the Pacific, it was a great way to spend a special occasion.

This was a wonderful, relaxing tour that exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Ivan was knowledgeable and friendly, as well as an expert at navigating the narrow canals of the estuary. We did the 7 AM tour. Pick-up and drop-off is included, but we decided to drive the 10 minutes from our Airbnb. Parking is free.

I honestly had no idea what to expect; this was part of my Valentine's gift to my ornithologist husband, so I knew he'd get to see some birds, but I wasn't prepared for the other-worldly nature of the Mangrove forest. Truly, it is a serene and magical place; the water is like glass, and the trees with their intricate root systems are mesmerizing. Wildlife we saw included a number of birds: wimbrel, reddish egret, tri-color heron, green heron, little blue heron, yellow-crowned night heron, white ibis, ringed kingfisher, belted kingfisher, plumbeous kite, common blackhawk, great blackhawk, black vulture, turkey vulture, common grackle, mangrove swallow, spotted sandpiper, willet, and yellow-naped parrot (at least my husband saw all of these through his binoculars--the rest of us probably saw at least 2/3 of them--the ones Ivan pointed out). We also saw and heard howler monkeys (Ivan called out to them so that they would call back), and got a glimpse of a small, baby crocodile, half-hidden by a branch. Aside from the other boat tours on the water, it was calm and peaceful. Along with his helpful commentary, Ivan provided cold bottled water and slices of delicious fresh pineapple that he cut up for us.

There were 10 of us passengers on the boat, and unfortunately, one woman had her iPhone on a selfie stick, and the phone slipped off into the water. There was nothing to be done, and I was glad she shared that she had her photos backed up on iCloud Photo. I suggest keeping all phones in your hand at all times!

One thing I noticed is that other boats seemed to have life jackets hanging from the ceiling and ours did not. The estuary isn't deep, but life jackets should still be available in case of emergency. A final note: Wear water shoes! We almost did, and then thought that because we'd be in the boat the whole time, it wouldn't be necessary. Turns out that boats can't get all the way to the dock, so you both enter and exit the boat by walking through knee-deep water. To avoid having to take shoes and socks off a couple of times, wear your flip flops or other water shoes.

All in all, this was a terrific tour. Highly recommend!

    Great Experience

An awesome tour with a very knowledgeable guide who is passionate about the natural environment. We traveled by boat through amazing nooks and crannies in an estuary. We saw many beautiful birds, monkeys, iguanas and a crocodile. We also saw many huge termite nests that parakeets live in. The vegetation is beautiful. We highly recommend this 2 hour tour. The company Discover Tamarindo is the best around. You will not be disappointed!!
Thank you for this great experience.

We had a fun snorkelling trip with our family of 5 (kids aged 14, 12 and 9). However, due to our lack of Spanish and the captains limited English we couldn’t communicate that well and trip was less interactive and fun than it could have been. We snorkelled in two places in the same bay and did see one stingray and various fish (and the captain also dived in and showed us a puffer / porkupine fish) and turtles sticking their head above the water on the way back (but not whilst snorkelling). Trip was shorter than we expected and we were back after three hours. Also be prepared to get very wet whilst on the boat. It is a relatively small boat and we got absolutely soaked from the spray on the way out and back.

Joseph was our guide and he was great. Got to see several beaches including Brasilito, the Marina, and Playa Flamingo. Tour takes you to a lot more places than I expected. Found a great place to eat during the tour that we stopped by when we were done. Highly recommend

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and let us take our time to explore and enjoy the water at the beaches we stopped at. We got Casco and Javier as our tour guides and we couldn’t be happier! They spotted out various animals and identified them to us. Made sure we were having a great time and were safe. Worth every penny!

The entire crew was top notch. They were friendly, funny and made you feel like you were being entertained in their home. The boat was clean and had plenty of space. Some of the snokle gear was old and needs to be switched out (my mask was so cloudy, it was incredibly hard to see much of anything. The food was freshly prepared and was not your typical cold sandwich and cut fruit...it was surprisingly good! I would highly recommend this experience for anyone wanting to spend time on the water and being pampered!

The guide (Marco) I believe exceeded my expectations. Everyone in my group was in a pair and I was the only solo individual so I rode with the guide. Which was awesome! I was up front and got to see everything first. He was very good at pointing out the trees, the critters, the short walk in the forest was awesome! Good to get out of the blazing heat for a bit saw a ton of monkeys! Highly recommend it’s not difficult to paddle super easy if you aren’t an avid kayaker.

We charted the yacht in the morning to take 8 of us out fishing and snorkeling. Everything was looked after, we were picked up first thing in the morning at our hotel and transported to the marina in Flamingo. The transportation was very comfortable and spacious. Once we got to the yacht the staff introduced themselves and helped us board and we were on our way. The boat was lovely, everything you would want for a comfortable cruise. Gilbert was our host and catered to our needs, we went for lack of nothing. Our Captain, Byron, found a great spot to fish and in no time at all we had a tuna on one of the lines. Jonathan, the third member of the crew, very efficiently helped us get the fish reeling in and on the boat for pictures. After fishing the Captain took us to a lovely beach to snorkel and swim while the crew made us lunch. I cannot say enough about the lunch the crew served us, fabulous. They made sushi with the black tuna and grilled jack medallions with our catch and served it along with the rest of the delicious lunch.
I would highly recommend chartering this boat if you have a group of people, you will not be disappointed. Byron, Gilbert and Jonathan, the crew, were amazing and made our boat tour a morning to remember. Thanks guys. Hope to do this again ❤️

My partner, a friend, and I took 6 days of surfing lessons with Mojo Surf. Joyel is a great teacher and a cool guy. He was very patient and gave good instructions. We came with a bare minimum of surfing experience, and he had us up and choosing our own waves in the blue water within a couple of days. The surf beach was secluded, and the waves were beautiful, consistent, and great for beginners. The owners, Tim and MJ, are a lot of fun and treated us like family. I can’t recommend these guys enough. They are all so kind, good-natured, and generous. If you choose them for learning to surf, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll have a great time!

We had a wonderful time with Tom going to Capitan. The paddling was quite the adventure and the island is beautiful. We snorkeled and took a lovely walk and saw animal life and critters and really enjoyed ourselves. Tom was a pleasure. Thank you for starting our vacation in such a lovely way . Now, when we look out on the island from the beach, we know we’ve been there!
