    Outstanding experience!!

Top notch and such a generous tour.

If you’re spending even just one day in San José, and would like a great introduction to this capital city, this is a must-do, in my opinion.

Dinora was knowledgeable, friendly and focused.

The samples of local fruits and other foods were so plentiful- we didn’t eat dinner that eve and our tour ended at 3 pm.

We had so much fun and learned some cool things about Tico culture.

Five star experience- Gracias, San Jose Urban Tours!

This was our favorite tour during our visit to Costa Rica! They day was packed with interesting and beautiful places, yet we never felt rushed. Olman is a real treasure. He is personable and very knowledgeable and curious and made our experience extra special. He is a wonderful guide and I hope to take another tour with him next time.

We had a fabulous time with Daniel as our guide. It’s a great way to see the city center and learn a little about the country. The included dinner was amazing. I would highly recommend this experience!

Jorge was a very informative guide and great story teller. Passionate about his culture. Left enriched with Costa Rican history. Dinner was delicious. I have several dietary restrictions and the restaurant was very accommodating. Our group was extremely personable. Very pleasant evening! Thank you!

We went on this tour as part of a larger tour of CR. The included buffet lunch was very tasty and they were very strict with COVID measures. The tour included a short video and coffee tasting demonstration. The tour guide was very informative and funny. We also walked though a portion of the coffee plants to see the forest like set-up in which they are grown. It was pouring rain but we were still able to get all parts of the tour in. Lots of coffee to purchase at the gift shop and they will ship coffee and chocolate purchases over $30 at no charge.

Our guide, Gerardo, was fantastic. He was informative, pleasant, friendly, helpful, prompt - everything one could ask for in a guide. He spoke beautiful English and helped my husband with his Spanish. The tour of Doka Estate was a wonderful and informative primer on coffee - how it's grown & processed. Grecia is lovely, the Metal Church is beautiful. And, at Sarchi we saw the 90+ year old factory which is still in pretty decent working order. Large variety of souvenirs at the store, too. All in all, it was a really fun day.

Our guide, Willam, who was knowledgeable and funny, took us across a long, high, hanging bridge. Views were great. We saw a Howler monkey and a huge Iguana. Further along, we saw more monkeys and a Bullet Ant (if it bites you, it feels like you've been shot, and the pain lasts for 24 hours). We saw wild vanilla plants and then we came to the cocoa plants.
William took us to a little pavilion, where he and Juan showed us how chocolate was made, using the same ingredients and processes that the Indigenous people used. It was fascinating and delicious.
Afterward, we had lunch in the restaurant on site. It was all excellent..

We were especially fortunate to be the only 2 travelers on this trip, but I think it would have been great even with more people. Our guide (Adrian sp?) was excellent and provided just enough information without talking the whole time. The timing was really great at the volcano because we got a crystal clear morning with great views of the crater and the whole volcano path down to the valley. It is COLD up there though (wear pants and pack a warm jacket). The Starbucks coffee farm was one of the best tourist experiences I've had - not commercialized and really informative and interesting. Because we were there during the harvest, we got to actually pick coffee beans and even taste the seed covering. The waterfall was beautiful and neat that you can walk behind it. All in all, it was a great experience!

Really enjoyed Alex's in-depth knowledge of the city and the history of Costa Rica.

The bikes were good and helmets were provided. The bike ride was fairly easy which worked for us because I was recovering from surgery. I had the impression that Alex can adjust distance and difficulty based on riders. Alex also focused on our main interest, history.

The empanadas were excellent, as was the discussion around coffee.

San Jose is not a very bike friendly city, but after a few busy streets Alex took us into quieter neighborhoods.

    Highly recommended

Very enjoyable as my daughter and I got an understanding of the local culture and food. Enjoyed the fruit tasting and making plaintain empanadas. We ended it with amazing Costa Rican coffee.

We joined the pub crawl mid February with visiting friends from Argentina, the United States, Italy and The Philippines. It was a great way to spend time together, have our guests see some of San José, and learn more about Costa Rica from locals.

We had previously joined Carpe Chepe for the free city tour, and since we had a good time then, we decided to sign up for this pub crawl. We were not disappointed. All of our friends enjoyed themselves and we got to discover some new places ourselves as well.

We visited different bars and didn't have to wait in line at any of the these places. This was really nice because some of the bars had lots of people lined up outside waiting for their turn to go inside. The guides were very friendly, bilingual, and made sure everyone enjoyed their night out. They seemed to be having a good time themselves as well and they kinda just felt like part of our group!

It sometimes took a while to get drinks, but other than that we had zero complaints. We would definitely sign up for this pub crawl again in the future, or try one of the other tours that Carpe Chepe offers. If you're looking for a fun night out, this is it!

Our family of 5 had an educational, delicious, and fun tour with Marcos. We signed up last minute for a Christmas Eve tour of the market and they accommodated us. We all learned a lot about the history, culture and food of Costs Rica. Marcos’ stories were engaging and kept everyone’s attention the entire time, Having done many private tours in our travels, we rate this as one of our favorites! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn about San Jose and experience the market with a local.
