We had a wonderful experience! We bought the full package, and were the only people in the park for most of the morning.
The highlight was of course meeting Kiki the orangutan, as well as interacting with the elephants. But we ended up feeding many more animals (over the fence) too with our guide.
The enclosures aren’t what you would see in more typical western zoos, but the animals still seemed well looked after.

We were staying at Hotel Tugu on Sire Beach. There is hardly anyone there apart from local fisherman, it is so quiet. Its a great place for early morning walks. There is great snorkelling but you have to swim or walk out about 250 metres. Lots of colourful fish and corals. Be careful to wear sturdy footware in the water as there are sea urchins.
    Highly recommended.

Located along Jl Raya Bayan (Bayan Road) this beach may be your only stop for food when you are cruising further after Senggigi, Medana and Tanjung on your way to Bayan. Many traditional and basic food stall selling fish satay (fish skewer) and grilled fish. The fishes are fresh. Mainly they only sell fish satay which is so cheap i.e. IDR 1,000 only! (USD 0.07) per stick. Grilled fish is sold at IDR 25000-35000 (USD 1,85-2). You can also order rice and sautee vegetables in some of the stall. Quite relaxing to eat facing the open sea and sand on your feet.
