- annU9647FGGreenville, SC240 contributionsWe rented a pontoon from the Sugarloaf Marina and headed out through beautiful mangroves about 30 min to the Marvin Key sandbar! It was spectacular! Everyone was anchoring out there and enjoying the views and beautiful water. We stopped at CVS and bought $3 floats to enjoy the water. So clear and an absolutely gorgeous day 78 degrees and sunny! We have used many rentals but this place gave by far the most excellent service. This time we made our first run to over to Tarpon Belly, what an amazing place, the shallow waters and wildlife. We rented 2 boats that were clean, functional and exceeded our expectations. We had the owners cell phone in case we needed anything. I left a water bottle on the boat and they texted me so I could swing by. You can really tell he cares. He is very enthusiastic, genuinely enjoys what he does, and is a great captain! I got some fantastic photos of this difficult to visit treasure! He keeps his boat spotless (you would never know he ran an all day fishing charter just before I boarded). Highly recommend, responsive, excellent pricing, enthusiastic, safe, and knows the area well. He was very patient with my wife and son. I also picked up a few pointers from him that I never realized in the past of my bad habits. Andrew is very professional with a nice boat and nice gear. I will definitely recommend him to anyone looking to experience the variety of fishing that the keys has to offer. I look forward to a tarpon trip with him next time. He is professional, knowledgeable, high-energy, and relentless. He had an aggressive plan to push out where he knows fish are as opposed to wasting time on over-fished spots that are closer to shore. We did whatever was necessary (trolling, drifting, bottom fishing, flat lining, you name it) to catch high quality fish-Bull Mahi, Black fin Tuna, Snapper, Grouper, Almaco Jack, Yellow Eyes, Blackbelly Rosefish. Steve (we have two other Steve's in our group so we called him Mitch) is quick to respond to any questions we have and was very knowledgeable about fishing in the area. We rented the boat and fishing gear from him. He gave helpful hints about where to go...where to avoid and bait use.
