This was actually one of the surprising highlights of my Key West vacation. If you have read any of Hemmingway’s books you will appreciate the history here since he wrote ~70% of his novels while living here; and even if you haven’t read his work you will enjoy learning the history of both the house and Hemmingway himself. This is definitely something anyone visiting Key West should do if they have time!!!

While this is a full day trip and initially seemed a little pricey ($200 pp), it was well worth the cost - a great value for what we got (breakfast, lunch, travel to/from, fort tour, and snorkel gear rental) and also an incredible experience. Besides seaplanes, this was the only boat going to the Dry Tortugas so the island wasn't overcrowded. Although the boat was nearly full, there was plenty of room to spread out, which was great because its a 2-3 hr trip each way. (I would recommend bringing something to entertain yourselves, which we didn't but that was our mistake.) On the way out, they served breakfast/coffee and on the way back they had a bar and snacks available for purchase. Our tour guide Asa was very sweet and seemed a little nervous since she was a new guide but honestly for no reason because she knew it all! Once we got to the island, you could do what you wanted and I wanted to go on the complimentary Fort tour. Since it was very hot, she kept us in the shade while giving us all the historical detail about the Fort, which was appreciated. In addition to that, the boat has snorkeling gear so many people spent their full time doing that - with the water so clear, you see a lot of fish! While docked, they also served lunch and were kind enough to make me a vegetarian option (gluten-free and other dietary restricted options were also available). Note that toilets are only available on the boat, not on the island, but they were kept fairly clean. Overall we had an amazing time and I would recommend making time for this experience.

Best beach in Key West! Beautiful, clear water, you can swim, snorkel, lounge in chairs under umbrellas or in the sun. It is rocky in the sand so I do recommend swim shoes or waterproof sandals to protect your feet. Great area for families, couples, solo walks, picnics and more! Picnic tables, concession stands, bathrooms, outdoor showers to rinse sand off. And the Fort area has iguanas and trails to walk. Palm trees and scenery perfect! Beautiful blue, clear water and white sand! Tropical scenery and listening to the waves and chatter of people around you and laughter of kids building sand castles is relaxing and refreshing!

One of the most beautiful places to visit. There was so much to see and it felt like you were in a fairytale. If you're in Key West, this is definitely a must.

The entertainment is eclectic and fun! The snow cones are yummy, especially when it’s hot. The view with water/sail boats is serene. And if you walk to the pier and find a seat for the sunsets you’ll be forever in love with the view and the beauty of God’s art work. You can get award worthy photos of the sunsets and soak in the calming and soul soothing atmosphere. Mallory Square is a “must do” while in Key West.

A must see when visiting key west if you are into history. The tour guide was excellent and answered all of our questions and we did not feel rushed.

Duval Street clearly is the busiest of the Streets in Key West with most of the bars, shops and restaurant on it or near. Morning is good for sightseeing and then by afternoon it turns into people watching.

The trip from Key Largo to Key West is just over 2 Hours - the Speed Limit changes from 35MPH in towns and up to 55MPH at one point. It is well patrolled by police so enjoy the ride as you travel along the single lane with a few two lane passing opportunities before you get to Key West.

I would recommend arriving to this early in the morning (before 8 or 9) as the line gets long as the day progresses; while it’s definitely a tourist attraction it is still something unique to see (especially since it is free) as it’s an image seen all throughout Key West. I would definitely recommend seeing for family photo ops.

While staying for a week in Key West our condo was within walking distdistance of Smathers Beach so we came by and used several times. My family and I enjoyed hanging out here as it was a very relaxing environment and was not over crowded at all. The only negative was seeing homeless people sleeping on the beach about every 30-40 yards but there wasn’t any issues when we were there (but be careful just in case); no lifeguards are on duty but there really isn’t a need since the water is so shallow; worth visiting if you are staying nearby.

Extremely interesting exhibits about the lives of lighthouse keepers. Really one of the better small museums we’ve been to. The climb to the top was worth it for the view. Definitely a must-see in KW.

Right in the middle of Key West tourist attractions is this commercialized museum.
The greeter at the top of the stairs had several interesting stories about the "wrecking" culture. In the heyday, there was 1 wreck weekly to be salvaged.
Walk to the top of the lookout.
    Recommended ever if it's corny.

The roads were all blocked for sewer construction so I had to park elsewhere (near the post office) and pay 28 bucks for 3 hours, then walk 1/2 mile. Some local residents were able to drive to Eco center and park in front for free. I knew I was going to Key West so I understand the Key West parking issues are all over and all the time, even in the off-season.
The Florida keys Eco center once you find it has displays and nice bathrooms. It's free admission not including off site parking.

Nice little beach to spend a few hours. The beach itself is small, but on KW this is expected. It was a short walk from the Old Key West Trolley Stop (#10.) Be aware, bring water & snacks if you have small kids. There are no places to buy those from. Also, the initial area in the ocean has a bunch of rocks, so your feet might be sore, although this can be avoided if you get in the water from the stairs on the pier. One other disappointment was that the adjacent playground was closed for renovations. The 4 y/o had a meltdown, but such is life!
