- jmklockeCoon Rapids, IA18 contributionsWe took this trip on Sunday, December 22, 2019. It was a little confusing to find the pick up location at the Torch of Friendship area. There is a parking ramp in the area. Once we located this roadside monument, we found the bus and driver. He immediately welcomed us and offered water to all. We drove for approximately 30 minutes while our driver pointed out highlights along the route. Once at the Everglades, we were given ear plugs and lined up for our turn on the boats. No waiting, we immediately boarded and headed out. We were please to see many gators and birds. The air boat driver gave us an exciting ride as well. The actual length of the ride is about 20 minutes. Next we attended a "show" seeing some gators and other animals up close. The tour ends with an opportunity to hold a small gator and get your photo taken for a fee. There is a gift shop and snack bar. - AdventureAmy1Orlando, FL391 contributionsWe only had time for one “adventure” in Everglades NP. I’m so glad we chose this! Our pick up was at the Miccosukee General Store and since the van was full we followed the Lime van into the the NP. Honestly at first I thought that was weird but it worked out FINE! We all parked a few minutes away at the Visitor’s Center (there are bathrooms and water here) then did the walking portion of our tour. We saw a ton of different birds, turtles, a snake, and several alligators PLUS 4 separate clutches of baby gators along the way. Stacy, our guide, was the perfect mix of knowledge and heart to share the history, ecology, terrain, flora - I could go on and on. She was wonderfully sweet, genuine and so knowledgeable. Then we drove back out and across the street to the boat launch. Our captain, Elvis, was so nice. The boat ride was spectacular! We all loved being the only boat out there. Zipping along watching the birds take flight was so cool! The tree island was a neat stop and more gators! We would definitely recommend this tour!! We had enough time to see Little Havana, have a boat trip around the islands, and short by really enough time on Everglades. All three guides were very professional and enthusiastic about what they were sharing, they built a super friendly atmosphere with jokes and interesting content. They took us to the most interesting places to have the right flavor, and we even found three alligators in a wild. Price-wise vs quality is on a super good level. Fully recommended.
