The baby alligator at Gator Lake was a treat and was showing off for us. - Carol L1 contributionThe Captains Keith and Carla were the BEST!! I've been to Shell Island many times over the years, and none of the captains have ever been very personable. Keith and Carla were just the opposite. Keith explained more about Shell Island to everyone than I've ever known - even showed us a diagram of which way to go to find the most shells. I wish he and Carla would give training to all the other ones about how to be so pleasant with the public!

She just recently bought it and said give her a year and we won’t recognize it. She said the previous owners had moved away and let the staff do whatever they wanted. It was sad to see how run down it had gotten. Clean very friendly and although small everyone had fun …. Age 2 to 11. The staff was most helpful and friendly including Aiden on our last ride …. Looks like we hiked the mostly biking area (Gayle's Trail) day one."
All of the Conservation Park trails were very well marked. We never felt "lost" during the three hours we were out there.
There were people running, walking, and on bikes.
We hiked.
Hot day. Only wildlife we saw were 2 snakes...not aggressive.
I ventured off the trail a bit and got stung by a hornet...on the ankle and on the knee. It HURT, but my leg did not swell up and the sting "pimple" was gone by the evening.
We hiked the "blue trail", but there are several different trails to follow (I think 4). Lots of trail markers, colored coded for each trail.
An occasional park attendant would drive by to keep an eye on folks. Nice.
We loved it and cannot wait to go back when we return next time.
