- SanFrancisco539 contributionsAviation from the Wright Brothers to the stars. Magnificent presentation. Very moving and informative. Grateful to have met 101 year old World War 11 veteran who was presenting on his war experience. Docents who are retired military pilots. Plan for three hours.Written 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- thetowguyNorth Port, FL240 contributionsVisited the lighthouse in conjunction with our visiting the Air Museum (different day). Really nice historic lighthouse, lots of history. Nice visit even if you don't climb to the top; lots of artifacts and history in the light-keepers quarters. Climb up is challenging, but not too bad; I'm 70 and did it. Just have to pace yourself and take breaks. Terrific view up there and knowledgeable volunteer at top landing.Written 26 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mel R.50 contributionsI know Pensacola Beach is the go to beach for just about everyone who visits Pensacola, and for good reason, it's perfect for hanging out and do some people watching, plenty of bars, restaurants, gift shops, large parking lot, etc. But I feel that Johnson Beach deserves some love as well.
Johnson Beach is quite the opposite of Pensacola Beach, there are some restaurants in the area, but it's not as walkable as Pensacola Beach. It's got white sands, clear water, a nearby trail, and large gazebos. This Beach is fantastic! Perfect for walking or going on a job.
Johnson Beach is ideal for those looking for a more relax atmosphere, maybe do a little fishing, or celebrating a special occasion. I personally enjoy it a little more than Pensacola Beach, I love coming here to do a light jog, and sometimes just to be a beach bum.
You pay a fee to park, I like getting the annual pass for $45, I feel it's well worth it. They also offer free public parking a few blocks before you hit the main entrance. It's not as big as the main lot just get there early enough and you'll have more luck finding a parking spot. Orange Beach is just further down the road from Johnson Beach if you want to try something different. Johnson Beach is one of my favorite Beaches, It's truly a hidden gem in Pensacola.Written 3 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Charlie GPensacola, FL5 contributionsI’ve been here my whole life and there are some things that you won’t like. - Ebony KKaty, TX20 contributionsThis was the best $5 I've ever spent!! If you're looking for an atypical activity to do in Pensacola, this is it. The birds here are beautiful. Feeding them from your hand gives you an up close interaction that you can't get at the zoo. Some of the birds even talk! I'm so glad I found this place. My kids had a blast and so did I!Written 1 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jessica MTexas5 contributionsMy family had a great time exploring historic downtown Pensacola. It is FULL of crazy interesting history. We spent the day visiting as much as we could. There are a lot of places that are included with your ticket and your ticket last a week long. We didn’t get through everything, and sadly didn’t make it back. It is such a good time. Take the guided tour through the historic village, it was really interesting and fun to go into the old buildings. Our tour guide Fletcher was so knowledgeable and full of information. The kids museum was geared toward small children, but we still had a good time with my 11 year old daughter.Written 25 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The visitor's center was closed when we were there, but the brochure and historic markers filled in the information.Written 31 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lbsunsetsWestlake, OH153 contributionsWe liked walking the boardwalk trail. We spotted a bald eagle, and some turtles in the water. We also went down to the observation tower and saw the beach area there.
