What a blast! From the hidden entry in the laundromat to the premium theater in the back a fun experience. I’m still wondering how they did some of those tricks.

I came of age in Chicago and the Blues is in me. But it wasn’t until I moved away that I realized the Blues wasn’t in most cities. I had just taken it for granted, that Blues music would be easily available.

I tell my friends that in Chicago it doesn’t matter what night of the week, the Blues are playing. So on Sunday night we made the easy walk from the Hyatt regency to Clark street to catch Sheryl Youngblood. $12 cover and inexpensive drinks, it’s the easily one of the best values in Chi-town!

Super fun on a Thursday night while on holiday in Chicago. $15 is very reasonable cover for two good bands each playing full hour sets. It is set up as two separate, adjacent rooms, each with a stage for bands which rotate sets through the night, so we just went from one room to the other for three plus hours. The music was very good, starting with singer/guitar slinger Joanna Connor supported by very capable young band, playing blues but not the usual limited three chord changes. Keyboardist was very talented. Song "People Get Ready" was superb showcase for her voice, while other tunes were more upbeat. Vance Kelly band was a larger group playing funk, soul and R&B in the larger room (e.g. James Brown, Kool & the Gang, and Ike & Tina) and there was a lot of orderly audience dancing. Sax player was outstanding. Some folks ordered food which looked good; I had only a large, heated pretzel which hit the spot. Location felt safe with police car parked across street as we exited at midnight. I did not know to ask so I missed the senior discount when ordering tix at the window. does not matter. Highly recommended.

Hadn’t been here in many years so decided to check out the matinee performance of the “best of Second City”.

The six comics were outstanding and I expect to see some of them on SNL at some point given their skill and quick thinking. The show was a mix of short sketches and improv with bits of live and recorded music. We just got the general seating tickets ($59) instead of the premium ones (front rows). It’s an intimate space and the voices are not amplified so there were a couple of times we missed a few words but overall it was good.

Unlike some clubs, there is No Food or drink minimum although they serve food and drinks if you want.

Seating is pretty cozy but we lucked out with being on the end and so it didn’t feel too crowded for us. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours on a cold Chicago afternoon. I bought our tickets a couple of weeks ahead online.

I’d definitely do it again next time we are in Chicago

Wonderful time. Audience participation can enhance the show. Delicious cocktails. More than worth the price of admission. Will be sure to see again.

Wow- what a night at the post-Chicago jazz festival jam session. The music was outstanding -- an opportunity to watch older musicians offer light mentoring The venue is spacious with good acoustics. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. Should be on your top ten list of things to do if you visit Chicago.

That is a place where you must book a table and be aware that it is booked only for one show even though the club normally offers 3 shows per night. Of course you can enjoy all shows if you book tables for them and pay the fee for each of the shows. Anyways, the place is great! Music was amazing and the food and drinks were fair enough. We enjoyed 1:15h of great music and had a good meal. In my opinion, if we could stay longer and enjoy more music would be amazing! However that is how clubs seems to work around here!

Visiting Chicago and had the most amazing night at Rosa’s Lounge. Intimate lounge with out of this world artists on the stage. Absolutely LOVED it!

My friend and I went for a cocktail after brunch as I’d not done any of the observatories during my visit to the city. This was a great way to see the view whilst enjoying a cocktail (approx $16 a cocktail but not entrance fees). It was very busy when we went but tables turn pretty quickly and we sat at the bar so only waited about 5 minutes. The lounge and restaurant felt like they had seen much better days and were very dated and worn - I would have given 3 stars had it not been such a great way to see the views and have a cocktail.

Once one of the best blues clubs in Chicago, I passed by on 8 October. It was closed, with a "For Sale" sign posted on the door. Sad to see it go. One hopes for a second coming.

New Jazz Club in Chicago. Grew up listening to the greats: Dizzy, Cannonball, Yusef, Miles, Ella, Sarah. You name it, they came to Chicago's great jazz clubs. London House, Jazz Showcase moved around allot. Last 20 years have not been impressed. Nothing special at Jazz Showcase, Andy's OK but nothing special. Wow Winter's. Small intimate club in old warehouse discrict on Chicago River. Great location on the river walk. 7:30 show, just walked in and found a good seat for $25 cover + drink per person. Set was extraordinary. Bosman Twins Quintet. Classic jazz with touches of Bird, Miles and Yusef. Tight group all fantastic musicians. Lit up the stage for all songs. Most if not all original compositions. Brought me back to the golden age of London House, Birdland in NYC. Thanks Winter's will be back. Highly recommend.

Our family attended the 8 pm Friday show of ComedySportz while on vacation in Chicago. Having never been to an improv show we didn’t know what to expect but I am so glad we decided to go. The show was very upbeat and interactive with audience members. The improv actors are entertaining and talented beyond belief. It was a great night out with our two teenagers!!

In town for Riot Fest and checked it out. If you love IPA’s, this is the place for you. The taproom is located in the middle of the brewery on the upper level which gives you great views of the brewery. The long heavy wooden tables and benches make it easy to gather. It reminds you a bit of being in a place like the Hofbrauhaus in Munich Germany. Good implementation of Ovid protocals. Even better beer
