The Garfield Park Observatory is a beautiful place for an event with all of the indoor foliage. There is plenty of room to have dinner, dance and wander around the trees and flowers. About a block away, it can get a bit sketchy, so I thought it was better to Uber than park a car. Especially at night. Uber took care of that.

A pleasant oasis near the zoo that is well worth a visit. It is pretty small, but has a beautiful set of plants grouped into several rooms by local.

The Lurie Garden is a 2.5 acre section of Millennium Park that functions as something of a secret garden and place to enjoy nice flowering plants and views of the city skyline. It is located in the southeast corner of the Park near the E Monroe St. and S Columbus Dr. intersection.

You'll find nice rows of hedges and variety of plants which bloom at different times of the year. We enjoyed a brief walk through Lurie Garden in route to the BP Pedestrian Bridge. Plenty of birds around and a fair number of cottontail rabbits hopping about. Was a nice touch having a bit of wildlife to go with this botanical area of Millennium Park.

This was a pleasant way to spend an hour. The parking lot is on Hayes, just east of Cornell drive. There aren’t many signs to the garden until after you park and start walking toward it. Parking was like $2 per hour. Cross the bridge to Wooded Island, for a nice nature walk and the real jewel is the Garden of the Phoenix. Kids had fun walking around.

This park is surrounded by highrises and is located just North of Millennium Park. I was walking back to my hotel and decided to take a detour through this park. The first thing that I noticed was how quiet it was. I suppose the tall buildings blocked the sounds of Lakeshore and Columbus, and effects were very peaceful.

The lawns and paths were exceptionally well maintained. The buildings surrounding the area are clean and colorful and the Radisson is especially interesting. This can be a very peaceful place in the middle of the city.

Since I was walking towards the DuSable Bridge I walked northwest in the park. To my surprise there was an intriguing staircase to get you to the main level. You can see in my picture that there is a garden in the center of a rather large circular staircase in which aesthetics was clearly on the mind of the designer.

    Overall, a very nice experience.

Best indoor plant and outdoor gardening center around. Huge variety of all kinds of plants, which are always in very good condition. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. After the annual and perennial areas are done for winter, I love to visit the greenhouse for a green 'pick me up'. Highly recommended!

In summertime, Plaza of the Americas is beautifully landscaped, and the whole area is in rich, colorful blooms; the high flying flags of the Organization of American States make the plaza look bright and very attractive.

You can see families with children on the plaza, and a striking sculpture Wings of Mexico is a definite photo op for many people. The history of the sculpture is described in detail on the stand in the front part of the plaza. Behind the sculpture, there is an impressive statue of Benito Juarez, the 26th President of Mexico (1858-1872), a memorial plaque gives the detailed info on the statue. I enjoyed taking photos of the plaza, that looked very beautiful in the morning sun.

The location of Plaza of the Americas is quite prestigious -- in the very center of Chicago, next to The Wrigley Building. Plaza of The Americas is easy to access from N Michigan Avenue, and it is an attractive, meaningful and memorable place to visit.

This is a tiny bit of green and peace and outdoor art in the city with some cool sculptures. It was just a few blocks from our hotel so we stopped by.

There are some neat large sculptures, they all have a sinister feel to them. (we did only visit during daylight hours). But I thought they were all sort of cool. There were three werewolf type figures, and a table that made me think it was for sacrifices. A little door, that didn't actually open, made my husband and I joke it lead to another dimension.

It was worth a slight walking detour to check it out, it's a cool sculpture garden.
