What we have always liked about this beach is the clothing optional policy. This beach offers complete freedom. Those of us from Boston can easily get her by the MBTA and the transfer bus. Now that it is easier, I am hoping more people from Boston will come.

A beautiful introduction to what Gloucester and Cape Ann are all about. And then walk over the Monument for the Wives, Widows and families of these brave Fishermen.

A lot of the old art and we did a lot of walking around the castle there I think it’s a nice place to visit if you have trouble with stairs in there

Twice in the past, before Gloucester wisely adopted an online parking reservations system for the summer high season, I waited in stop-and-go traffic hoping in vain to get to this famous beach, but ultimately ran out of time and had to turn around on both occasions. I eventually had a chance to visit in early December, at sunset. The long wait was worth it. While the many summer services on this beach were closed, of course, the stirring beauty of the flat rippled sandy shoreline, stretching in dusky majesty toward the Annisquam Lighthouse on the horizon in one direction, and the North Shore coastline on the other, knows no season. A cold wind was blowing steadily, but nonetheless there was a scattering of intrepid beach visitors, each seemingly taking in the wondrous show in reverent silence. In this rarefied setting, a brief flash of surrendering sunlight on a distant window was like a wink from heaven.

this park and beach (too rocky to swim) was a beautiful spot on the water. No fee to go to this park. Beautiful location and breeze.

This is a must-see house! Sleeper was a self-taught interior designer who had an amazing eye for design. Every room in the house is loaded with clever design and amazing delights for the eyes. Our tour guide, Colleen, gently and kindly prodded everyone to not delay so we could see more of the house. She was a true appreciator of the designs in the house and was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. The tours are intimate, accommodating about 7 people maximum at a time, so definitely book online in advance. The good news is that tours are held every half hour. You definitely don’t want to miss touring this amazing house.

It was nice walking around and checking out the shops after a boat ride. Charming little town. Shady trees and quaint restaurants to take an afternoon break. Not as crowded as Rockport. Another town to explore. Not a real destination like Rockport.

We ignored the private drive, followed the GPS and glad we did! The houses were amazing and the walk out to the end of the rocks was really cool. Glad we made this stop!

While the nearby Fishermen's Memorial remembers those lost at sea, the Fishermen's Wives Memorial is a reminder of those they left behind. At the junction of Western Ave (Rte 127) and Rte 133 overlooking Crab Beach this simple memorial statue of a mother with her children watches the Western Harbor for the return of her sailor husband.
Surrounded by gardens and on the beautiful flag lined walkway over looking beach it is a lovely spot to walk, roller blade, swim or relax.

Whenever I go to Gloucester I have to stop here. Flag lined walkways flanked by gardens on one side and the western harbor on the other. Add to that the Fishermen's Memorial and the Fishermen's Wives Memorial and you have a very peaceful place to stroll or bring a chair or choose one of the many benches to just relax and enjoy the day.

My husband and I took our nieces to this beach last summer. It's a great little beach tucked away and easy to miss. The day we went it wasn't too crowded and the parking was reasonable. I suggest brining a grill or your own food. There is a place to get food, but it wasn't that great. It's a bit rocky, so I suggest brining beach shoes so you can walk around. The park is beautiful.

Fun place for good galleries and restaurants during the summer season. Pretty dead otherwise. You can take a harbor loop ride from Gloucester.

Hubby and I were bumping around the Gloucester area today, looking for something to do indoors to escape the heat. Came across this gem. Informative and informational presentation. Excellent tasting opportunities. A pleasant way to spend some time. Buying bottles of Gin and Whisky at very reasonable prices was also a high point. Check them out!

Get a trail map and bring bug spray. Recommend long pants and long-sleeved shirt. Plenty of parking; dogs welcome.

A lovely mile long beach that's mostly peopled by locals. A private parking lot at the Gloucester side has showers. It's a wonderful white sand beach but it's narrow, so plan your trip when the tide is lower.
