This is a lovely little beach within walking distance of Sayulita central. The walk is not strenuous and is actually quite pleasant. The beach itself is beautiful with clear water. We went on a Friday and it was not overly crowded.

I decided to come before things get really crazy here in Sayulita during high season. The market happily has an entrance to ensure all attendees are wearing masks and temperatures are taken and a separate exit. All of the vendors were wearing masks and I felt very comfortable. Unfortunately that didn’t translate out to the streets.

I scouted this out before I took 10 friends on the hike. I went to north end of town on Avenue del Palmar and parked my rental car on side of road in residential area. I took trail to beach and walked to the rocks on north end. The trail along the rocks is right next tothe private property but you are on a legal trail, just don't go over the rock wall (signs are very clear). A few places are tricky but I had out of shape 65+ year old people the second time I did this and they were fine. Solo, it took me 12 minutes from the rocks to the small beach. With group it took me 30 minutes...painfully slow.

Coming back (both solo and with group) I took the jungle route. Solo it took me 18 minutes, about 30 min. with the group. To catch jungle route, go east from the beach on the small trail till you hit a jeep trail. Turn right. Go for several minutes till a smaller trail heads to the right. The goal is to go far enough to go past the private house. You will cross their private road, but it's wide open to go acosss it. This small jungle trail will meet back up to the original trail you took to get to the beach at the begining.

There are two caves. We did not bother with the small one as it required crawling. The large cave is a passageway. It was low tide but some of our crew were not paying attention to the wave sets and got their shoes wet. I walked through without getting wet at all.

Save yourself some money and do the adenture yourself.

Beautiful arts and crafts surrounded by coffee and food everywhere. You get to see the artist at work. Whether you are looking for a bag, a t-shirt, a shot glass, or huichol art, you are at the right place

One of a kind pieces from a true artist. Humble and pure in presentation and description. Definitely want to support this shop.

Sayulita Beach is beautiful but can get crowded. It is unclear how clean the water is so check out official reports before you go. Supposedly the new water treatment plant has eliminated problems but some official reports online still have high counts of things you don't want to swim in. On the other hand, there are lots of people swimming and surfing so maybe it's okay. In Sayulita itself, you'll need cash - most places (stores, cafes, taxis) don't accept credit cards.

It's a small beach town north of Nuevo Vallarta. They have a place to care for birds and a collection of mainly local birds.
