- Betty TPoint Pleasant, United States43 contributionsFirst Energy Park is the home park for the Lakewood Blue Claws. Not only are they very invested in their local communities, they are also great supporters of thelocal Scouting programs, allowing special nights for the kids to attend a game and have an overnight sleepover on the field with a big screen movie to finish off their special night. This year, I attended as part of the APO fraternity reunion, getting to meet many of the menwho were my husband's peers during his college days before meeting me. Everyone was very accommodating to the wide age range that needed accommodation and our buffet was tasty, plentiful and hot. The Park itself has a wide variety of food choices from typical baseball park food choices to oriental, italian, and kosher concessions to name a few Prices are reasonable; the restrooms plentiful and clean; and they alow for tailgating pre-games. There is adequate handicapped parking and reasonable parking fees. Specialty theme nights offer someting for all ages, with my favorite being an Irish night with the bagpipers. Firework nights are always impressive. Staff, security and first-aid resources are visible and very friendly. Crowd control has never been an issue in my experience. If you are travelling to their locale and they have a local game, I would heartily endorse them as a recreational destination for your family.Written 8 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JoyChristenaHasbrouck Heights, NJ204 contributionsOcean County Park in Lakewood, New Jersey - what a respite from the self-isolation endured during this pandemic. Sundays more people show up at the Park, but still plenty of room in this 323 acre Park for more than social distancing. The lake with the long-necked geese is lovely and there are paths and one can enjoy walking around the lake. The geese are well fed by the children and families that enjoy stopping there. The Park originally belonged to the Rockefeller family. It's a pleasure to walk through this Park with the multitude of tall trees in the lush forests on either side of the roads. There are many lovely fields where one can get away from people and play frisbee or ball games. Our family enjoyed alternating frisbee and catching a ball with our 3 year old. The 3 year old and her granny enjoyed walking on the grass in their stocking feet. There is no picnicking or food allowed in the Park at this time and the playgrounds are cordoned off. On one of our walks, we noticed a small beach which is probably closed right now. But the fresh air, the sunshine, the walks, the lake, the geese, the ball games and frisbee, are all so welcome after being shut in one's home all these months. And the rest will come when the pandemic is finally over. These activities will return after the pandemic is over: picnicking, swimming, beach volleyball, fishing, golf, playing in playgrounds, tennis courts, and a driving range. For now there is walking, enjoying the forests, the lake and the geese, playing ball, frisbee, jogging, running, and just enjoying being in the great outdoors and in nature! Ocean County Park in Lakewood, N.J. - don't miss the splendid beauty of this natural Park with the unspoiled beauty of the forests and lake!Written 10 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
