What travellers are saying
- BeckyBinghamton, NY211 contributionsFour of us (and 1 dog) camped on site #62 for 2 nights over a weekend in July. The site was a comfortable size for 2 tents and 2 cars. Friendly staff on check in, clean common areas, good bathrooms (great water pressure) and decent recycling/trash facilities.
I would happily return here.Written 25 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Now ive done a bit of traveling and sometimes a place that looks great can be kinda gimmicky, so this was my fear with this location, BUT now that I have been I can promise Mystery Spot was easily my favorite part of our trip.
The owner was there, she was funny and kind and very knowledgeable! Another highlight was a shock, the layout! it was so easy to walk through and get lost in each room, everything was organized and easy to look through. I can't say enough how much that helped, I hate feeling like a bull in a china shop so feeling comfortable walking around was a big factor for me.
My partner and I purchased our first antique and have our eye on our next purchase here, giving us an excuse to come back to the beautiful little paradise that is Phoenicia.
Thank you Mystery Spot! You all helped make our holiday extra special. Hope to see you soon!Written 24 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It shows the history of the rail stations that brought coal around the state as well as vacationers to the Catskills. You only need 30 minutes here, it's an enjoyable visit.Written 17 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eduardo GBronx, NY105 contributionsIf you are beginner, like we were, this hike may seem somewhat difficult and, well, endless. At many points we felt that the hike was longer than the 3-miles posted. The trail starts off flat, yet slowly ascends the skirt of the mountain. About 1/3 of the way, the trail turns to a winding/curving trail. The firetower itself was 4 stories high and the views were incredible.
I caution everyone to bring essentials up there.Written 27 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can't help to feel a little sad as you wonder why the church is no longer a church? The story of Shandakan is interesting and worth a visit .Written 16 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barbara SEllenville, NY69 contributionsI had been to Phoenicia many times, especially during leaf peeping season and for dinner at Brio's restaurant but did not know about this hidden gem. After dinner walked across the street to the Playhouse and saw an awesome play. The theater is small (approx 160 seats) and has a lot of the original decor. The staff were super friendly and the talent in the play was great - honed actors/actress not just local fill ins. Tickets were very inexpensive. It was a wonderful 2 hours detour!Written 30 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ross & MayaMatawan, NJ3 contributionsGood views from the Phoenicia observation site. The only problem is the poor trail marking, especially at the start. We've wasted some time wandering around, even were thinking about aborting the hike, when luckily saw a returning couple so we got back to the trail. A lot of markers are placed parallel to the trail so they can be seen only while passing by instead of showing the path. Well, that can be considered as making the hike a bit more adventurous...Written 27 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roberto DMilan, Italy182 contributionsThey are just an amateur group of people trying to do something bigger than them. No good voices, no good orchestra at all, no good acting skills, no scenography, to me was just a waist of time. Fortunately a thunderstorm interrupted the show and I escaped! - YenyokNew York City, NY204 contributionsThe 1st thing that hit you is the greatest smell of home made incense. The prices are very cheap comparing with NYC. We bought honey, toys, crystals, inches, candle and so onnnn.

We took our 2 year old and the employees were so helpful in helping him feel comfortable and safe the whole time. They are all passionate about what they do and ensure everyone gets plenty of pictures of their experience. Highly recommend and can't wait to book my next trip 😀Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
