Did the road on a motorcycle (i was the passenger) and it certainly lived up to its name. Tons of turns and some really tight - lead to an adrenaline packed few miles. Luckily we hit it on a slow day and not much traffic - but please pay attention when they say stay in your lane - some cars were going over the speed limit and they were crossing the line too (not much room for error up there - so pay attention).

Heard about this place on NC Weekend show and thought since we were headed somewhere relatively close by, we would stop. Didn’t have the same experience as others. I actually called the store about 9:15 just to make sure they would be open at 10……didn’t want to go out of my way and have them be closed. The woman was super nice and when we arrived at the store, she showed us all around. My husband loved the homemade soap and she even showed us the room it is made in (mini tour). I tried several different Meads….none my favorite but I got a few cans for some friends to try. Tried some of their own honey (they have others too) but decided to buy the 2 they actually produce on site. The store has lots of other things to look at so I felt it was definitely worth the extra stop.

Yellow Creek Falls is easy to find; it is kind of mid-way between Robbinsville and the Cheoah Dam; the trailhead is right off the main road, Rt. 129, and marked well. The lot can probably hold about a dozen vehicles. The hike itself is only .3 miles each way, so it is a short hike. However, there is alot of incline on the way in, with lots of rocks and tree roots. Also, some areas on the trail can get muddy depending on how the weather has been, but we were able to maneuver a way around each of these without incident. We did not use a walking stick; for me personally I think it would have been more of a hindrance. The falls are beautiful, and worth the hike. There are a couple of nice places to take pictures, including a huge rock with a straight-on view.

The items for sale were all beautiful and they also had books of the area, jewelry, pottery, beautiful silk scarves and the lady working was very helpful, and suggested other places to visit.

An amazing addition to the beautiful Yellow Creek valley! This hard working and personable couple have transformed what was once an overgrown field into a quaint and alluring micro-farm and gift shop. Well worth a visit when traveling in Graham County especially if lavender is your thing. Make sure you call first to check on their availability that day.

The perfect one-hour (round trip) meander through a magnificent meadow ascending to as spectacular a 5,600'elevated panorama as you will find this side of the Alps or Mt Everest. How's that for an earned hyperbole! Sturdy hiking boots recommended as some of the hike is a bit rocky and often soggy. If you literally want a breath of fresh air, hike up to Huckleberry Knob. Unforgettable vista, guaranteed.

We had been by Cheoah Dam before, but didn't realize until just a few days ago it was the dam that Harrison Ford jumps off in "The Fugitive." It's actually called "Fugitive Dam" on a map we were given. So we decided to take another look. We first went to Fontana Dam, then took Route 28 west from there, and it was an easy drive with hardly any other cars. There is not really a good place to pull off by the top of the dam and you can't walk on it. The one pull out area is not very big and filled with construction/worker vehicles. There is an overgrown walkway with chain link fencing, so I just walked a short distance and took a few photos. The much better view is just a short distance away, though. Heading on 129 back towards Robbinsville, just over the bridge you can pull off the road, and then walk back to see the dam in all of it's Fugitive-jumping glory. Definitely worth a stop, especially if you are in the area anyway.

I had seen the signs to the Junaluska monument on my travels around this region, but I had never stopped to see it before now. This is the site of Junaluska's grave and has a series of markers describing his assistance to the US against other native tribes. This is history all citizens of our country should know but likely do not. I recommend you go. There are also some trails to explore, but I didn't get to do this due to a threatening thunder storm.

The trail was wide and had pretty good signage. The best part of the hike was the cascading waterfall. Twentymile creek is beautiful ! There are bridges to navigate over the many creek crossings. There were a few backpackers on the trail and some day hikers. Parking is limited.

I can highly recommend this business. I rented an Electra Glide over Labor Day weekend. The bike was in excellent shape and the whole process was great. I was a little hesitant about leaving my car in their yard, but that was my big city paranoia showing through. Everything was very organized and smooth. Cannot say enough good about them. I will be back!!!!
